well guys, i just bought another supra after i sold my red one. The Red had too many problems and i couldn't deal with it so i got rid of it. So i purchase another supra. I m the 3rd owner, last owner had the car for 15 years! Its 89 Hardtop, Black, Turbo, 5 Speed 65xxx miles on it!!! no Rust! :evil2: The motor had a small fire, which start on the coilpack and alot of the wires are burned and alot of the pipes need to be replace. So this project starts and i m hoping to have the car alive by 3 weeks if i get all the parts! :)
Also i m going to need alot of help from the members on this forum cause ... im going need help on this one! Thanks

Wow. Have fun. The car looks just like mine, but better interior and a lot less miles. 89 5speed, black, maroon leather, hardtop here too.
I'm about 3 hours away, else I would offer to help.

I wish I had one that nice looking... Looks like you need quite a bit under the hood though. Its hard to tell from pictures, but if I were you I'd definitely get a new CPS, TPS, ISC, funky theromostat housing plug thing for the charcoal canister, a whole bunch of gaskets/hoses... and more. You don't happen to have a spare engine lying around do you? =\ I don't know i I'd trust what's in there right now without at least tearing it all down and replacing everything that's damaged. But again, it looks REALLY nice.

You and zm_br both have my "Dream/Perfect" Supra! Blk, 5Spd, Turbo, Post 89, and best of all HARDTOP! Low mileage too! DAMN! Looks like you have some work to do on that car. How much did you get her for? Hope you don't mind me asking. *Subscribed* GL.

Might wanna start with replacing the timing belt. Gates one is a good one. :)

Buy it from rockauto.com

and go to retailmenot.com for 5% off code. ;)

Your welcome man. So lucky that car has that interior though or I probably would of picked it up.:icon_bigg

But yeah, the wires do look pretty rough, as do some of the other parts. If I were you I'd atleast put in a few hours trying to find a replacement engine near by if you could. Wouldn't be surprised if you could grab one for around $400-$500 or so right? Drop that in there and try to get a $100 or so out of the engine that is in there...or part out the parts that still look good. After it is all done the total cost of the car would be under $1,500 even though it'd be a lot of work.

Good luck with it all though...I'll keep reading on it.

I checked the timing belt. Its in great condition! I might replace it in the near future.

I m not thinkin about dropping another motor in there yet. I want to bring this motor back to life. Everything looks in great condition, expect the wiring harness and little other stuff. I already found some of the things to replace. I m hoping to have the car rdy in 3 weeks.

Thanks for looking

Alright guys, i have a problem. I m ganna have to replace the motor! Alot of the pipe material has been melted on the block and it's hard to tell what goes where so i m thinking about replacing the motor. If anyone here has a good decent motor thats running and is up for sale. please let me know! thanks

or i might try to remove all the plastic and try to bring it back to life.

arent you the guy who broke the bolts on the cam covers and couldnt drill them out and wanted to replace that engine too?

So now some hoses are burned and you arent sure what goes where so you want to buy a new motor?

You are pretty much clueless on car repairs/restoration arent you? Do you have ADHD? I am going to make a bet right now that not only is that car not running in 3 weeks, but is in fact sold before it ever runs under its own power. I really dont think you belong owning a Supra, or any nearly 20yo car for that matter.

I dont mean to be an ass about this but that car is both minty AND far too gone for someone of your skill level. Either get someone local to help you go completely through it, or sell it to someone who can.

Hey don't worry- you didn't sound like an ass at all.....throughout that entire tirade....nope. Not one bit.

Dude- you need to remove everything from the top of the engine, and make an inventory of what's good and what's bad. Unless something got into the block, I don't think you need to replace it. Can't tell if the body harness was affected. Hopefully if it was, you can simply replace individual wires if it's not extreme.
