Finally got a build thread, eh? :)

Good luck with it Mo. I wish i was close enough to help out on a regular basis, instead of 2x per year ;)

If you're set on Volks, I like the Gt-S version. The Challenges arent a bad choice, but they'd need to be gunmetal. Or else.

Yeah Bryan. I figured it was about time. I've been working on it long enough might as well post some pictures up. :icon_razz

I like Volks. I think they're well made. A couple friends of mine had some and they were sharp. I'll check on the GT-S. Gunmetal would be sweet. I would go well with the color of the car.

Any other wheel recommendations, post 'em up!

I just checked out the GT-S Wheels. I gotta say they're pretty sharp. The Gunmetal with a polished lip is sick. This is what they look like:

p1209735_1.png

p1209735_2.jpg

Fronts will be 18x8 +33 w/ a 49mm lip (They also have +27 & a 55mm lip)

Rears will be 18x10 +23 w/ a 113mm lip (They also have +23 & +38 w/ a 100mm Lip)

What do you guys recommend?

Here's a pic of the GTS in Chrome:

Yeah I did a lot of searching through BorHor's Wheel Thread. I looked through tons of pictures of different wheel set-ups. +35 seems to fit pretty well.

I'm under the impression that lower the offset, the more flush the wheels will be. Therefore I'm assuming a rear offset of +23 should be pretty damn flush on a 18X10 wheel. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I'd hate to buy the wrong wheels :(. Maybe BorHor will stop by and comment.

Happy Holidays everyone!

Just for reference, here's a pic of the SF Challenges. It basically comes down to these two unless you guys have some other suggestions.

Negative. Not aggressive enough, especially the front.

Roll and flare the front/rear fenders, then go with

Front: from 9.5" low 20s offset to 10" high 20s offset
Rear: from 10.5" mid teens offset to 11" low 20s offset

I like the middle picture........A LOT!!!!!!

And, I believe we are supposed to stay pretty close to a +38 offset

The top and middle rims are the same color.

Yes, +38 offset for:'

- unmodified fenders
- wheels 8.5 front and 9.5 rear

More people ought to step out of the comfort sizing zone by:
- modifying fenders
- wheels 9.5 and bigger front, 10.5 and bigger rear

So you're saying a 18x10 wheel with a +23 offset and a 113mm (4 1/2 inches) lip isn't aggressive enough? My main concern is having everything flush, or as close as possible. I really don't care about "aggressive". I hear what you're saying and there's no doubt in my mind it will look great, but I don't know if I wanna go that route. Plus I don't have any experience with rolling fenders.

Unfortunately Volk doesn't offer an 10.5" wheel. It's either 10 or 11 inch. An 18X11 wheel either comes with a +15, +25, or +38 offset. You can see the combinations they have here:

http://www.upgrademotoring.com/wheels/volk_racing/gt-s.htm

I appreciate the advice. Please keep it coming.

Most MKIII owners are conservative when it comes to wheel fitment. "Aggressive" is relative and so is "flush." Some people will consider a wheel setup agressive and some will think it's weak. Some may call a setup "flush" and others may consider it "sunk in." Why don't you post a picture of what you consider flush, so that others could help with pinpointing width and offset? As far as rolling fenders, for best results, you'll need someone to roll your fender with a fender roller; don't use the baseball bat method.

I don't have any add-on fender flares. Just rolled and flared fenders. I run

9.5+23 front (235/35/19)
10.5+18 rear (265/30/19)

I think the setup above is still relatively conservative, after the rolling and flaring.

I have 5 more pieces of advice for you :naughty:

1. Volk Racing comes in 10.5" sizes
2. In today's fitment game, depending on how you want your setup, you make the car fit the wheels, instead of the other way around.

the next three are actually bonus:
3. G35 and 350z fitment go well with MKIIIs
4. You'll find immaculate VR wheels w/great prices at my350z.com and g35driver.com
5. You'll find GT-S often at websites mentioned above

Most of the links to the wheels below are 19s, but you'll find 18s too.

Rodel, I think you just saved me a shit load of money. I appreciate the help man. I'm going to check out those links and see what I can find. In the mean time, this is how I would like my wheels to fit. Just using these as a reference:

http://www.supramania.com/forums/showpost.php?p=849565&postcount=246

http://www.supramania.com/forums/showpost.php?p=799774&postcount=11

Once I (we) figure on the correct width and offset, I'll call around in my area and find someone who'll be able to roll the fenders properly. Thanks again man.

Actually, first you get the wheels, then you get the fenders rolled. That way, you know how much to roll the fender.

Here's a friend's car with fender rolling, but no flaring. Work Meister S1 Matte Black: 19x9.5 +24 /19x10.5 +23

Here's my car with fender rolling, then flared about 1", so I'm able have a lower ride height.

Front are 9.5+24, rears are 10.5+18. I actually was able to fit fit 19x11+18 easily at the rear (no pic though)

beautiful car Mo, can't wait to see the final paint job.
are you going to keep the stock intake set up or are you gonna go ffim?

Eventually I may go FFIM. This set-up worked very good for Duane so I'm interested to see what type of numbers I put down first. The intake is P&P and the throttle body is ported to 64.6mm.

After I get everything situated and running correctlyn my goal is to clean up the engine bay. There's a lot of stuff I want to get rid off. Going FFIM maybe help me accomplish this.
