Well I finally decided it was time for me to start my own build thread.

Background:
Purchased my first Supra when I was 16 years old. It's an 1987 NA. I basically did every bolt-on mod possible. I used a lot of information from Dean Marcum. I finally realized I needed something faster :icon_evil. That's when I bought my '91. It's a Targa Top and also has shadow gray interior. It used to belong to IRACEMYCOPCAR. I drove all the way down to Maryland to pick it up. Although it looked a bit different in person, I fell in love. Shortly after I purchased it, the modifications began.

Mods:
The motor was rebuilt and has around 60k miles on it. It ran beautifully. I had a stock CT running around 13 psi. My goal was to eventually build a "reliable" 450-500 rwhp cruiser. Something that packed a punch, very streetable. However, I came across a great deal and could not pass it up. This guy locally to me spent around $8k dollars or so building a motor for his '89. Unfortunately, several weeks after he installed the motor, he wrapped the car around a tree. I purchased the entire car for $2,000. I swapped the motor and sold many of the parts from the wrecked car.

Between school and baseball, it has been a slow process, however, last year Shaeff and I were able to get some mild street tuning done on the maft-pro. Although she still needs to be tuned badly, she pulled hard running around 15 psi. The upgraded Greddy TD06-20g is supposedly good for about 590 hp. My goal is to brake 500 and still be very streetable.

Here's a list of the modifications that have been done.
Fully Built 7MGTE
-Mk4 Motor Mounts
-Re-balanced Crank
-.40 JE Pistons
-Crower Rods
-HKS 2.0mm Stopper HG
-Titanium Valve Springs & Retainers
-Stainless Steel Valves
-Port & Polished Intake Manifold [Duane's (Upgradedsupra) old set-up]
-Ported Throttle Body 64.6mm [Duane's (Upgradedsupra) old set-up]
-PTE 680cc Injectors
-Megan Large Racing IC
-Custom FFIM
-Oil Filter Relocation Kit
-Frankenstein 5 Greddy TD06-20g (Garret E60 Compressor Wheel, flows 750 cfm--Polished Compressor Housing, Ceramic Coated Exhaust Housing)
-PWR Racing Radiator
-PLX-500 Wideband
-MkIV Denso Pump
-HKS SSQV
-Aeromotive FPR
-B&M Oil Cooler
-Magnecor Wires
-AEM EMA-Full line of ProSport gauges
-Tein SS Coilovers
-MK4 TT Chome Wheels
-Jawsgear 1-piece steel driveshaft

Current Status:
The car is currently getting painted. The same guy who did some work on Shaeff's M3 is doing the job. I decided to go with the stock color. Toyota 182, Bluish Gray Metallic. She will be sporting an authentic Do-luck front bumper, ShineAuto side skirts, and a Kaminari rear. I also have a Carbon Fiber CFX 2" Cowl Hood.

Future Plans:
-Get the car fully tuned
-Dyno

-Finish the suspension:

*Bilstein 3-way adjustable shocks

*Whiteline Front and Rear Sway Bars

*BIC Endlinks

*A1 Rear Camber Kit

*A1 Rear Toe Kit

*A1 Rear Traction Arms

*Energy Front & Rear Poly Bushing Kit

-Twin 12" Fan Aluminum Shroud Kit For The MKIII

-Finish the interior:
*Either JDM Recaro, leatherseats.com, or katzkin.com covers

*New Carpet

*New ebrake, shift boot, and arm rest cover compliments of Empera

-Upgrade the brakes (ARZ Front & Rear Brake Kit)
-Possible cam upgrade (BC or Regrinds)

There's more, but that's all I can remember from the top of my head. Stay posted as I'll be updating this thread frequently.

I've had a lot of help from the members of this forum. There has been many times when I was stuck and people here were more than willing to help me out. Shaeff (Chris) and Slow66 (Bryan) have been helping me out for a couple years now. Chris is a jack of all trades and is especially good with electric. Bryan can just about make anything you want :icon_razz. Without these guys, I'd be far far behind.

Here are a few pics. I finally opened a photobucked account so it might take me a while to get all my pictures uploaded. Hope you enjoy them.

Update: 3/20/09
The car is finally done getting painted. You can see the new pics of Pgs. 6,7, & 20. It's dusty, but overall it came out well. I didn't pay top dollar, however, I paid enough to know how I wanted it to turn out.

I also just purchased an HKS T3 Tubular Manifold so I can finally get rid of the restrictive stock manifold. I'm also going to be purchasing a set of electric fans from Adrenaline in the next week or so. All that is left is to plumb my oil system and get her tuned. I am picking it up tomorrow (3/21/09) and will begin work immediately. Stay tuned.....

Pics of the manifold. It will hopefully get getting ceramic coated very shorty :biglaugh:

Update: 3/23/09
Stripped some of the interior including the dash, front seats and center console. I've got a new dash going in, as well as, a heater core, blower motor and carpet.

Update: 3/27/09
Got this in the mail today.....It's a fairly rare Cusco Rear Strut Bar. More of a "bling" item than anything else, but hey everyone needs a little bling now and then ;) Also picked up some Carbon Fiber goodies to compliment my CFX 2" CF Hood. It no longer has those hood pins. I went a different route ;)

Thanks Emp. I've got to take some more recent pictures. These are mostly old. I want to do a lot of cleaning to the engine bay. Get rid of most of the wires and make it much more "clean" looking.

I can't wait to see how its going to look with a new paint job.

Your car is my motivation! We'll be tearing it up!

We'll get it done man. All we need is a couple weekends and she'll be ready to rock. Like I said, we need to finish 'em up cause summer is right around the corner ;)

JDMMA70--No vids as of yet. I'll make sure to get a few when I'm at the dyno and maybe on the way back ;)

Mo, I'm loving your color. I don't know that I"ve ever seen it before. I can't wait for you to post up some pictures of it with the new paint job............

I wish I lived closer to Chris so he could help me with Vondas car. I keep getting the dreaded tps and knock sensor codes............(hunts sharp object to cut wrists with)

Stay away from the sharp objects! :icon_surp

I can't wait to see it done either. I had a tad more black mixed into the paint so it might turn out to be a little darker. The metallic flake looks increadible though.

I tried to build a complete car. Some people either put all of their time and energy into the exterior or towards engine mods. I wanted something that had a little bit of both. I'm hoping it turns out that way. :x:

Yeah I'm pretty lucky to have Chris around. While Bryan, my dad, and I were welding up intercooler pipes, he installed my entire maft-pro in about 20 min. He dissappered and no one knew where he went lol.

^ Jay, you're still getting that 52!?

Yeah, her car runs great mechanically, but it has no power at all. I took it to the stealership and he tried to adjust the tps, but said it needs to be replaced. That's two hundred dollars counting the labor for him to install it and adjust it. I'm going to have that done and then start with the knock sensors again. I'm hoping the problem is with the tps but I won't know until I have it fixed. Electronics kick my ass, and I'm not so proud that I can't admit it.............

Mo, I think the color will still be pretty sharp. I can't wait to see it.

I'm thinking about buying these wheels. They're Volk SF Challenges. The color pictured is Mercury Silver. I think I'd get them in in a Rays Metal Coat (RMC). The size would be 18x8 +35 and 18x10 +35. They're pretty pricey, but I like them. What do you guys think?

Those are bad ass'd Mo.............

I thought they look pretty nice. I think they'd show off the ARZ brake kit too :naughty: I have to call and ask them about the rear lip situation. In that pic you can see the rear wheel has quite the lip, while the front wheel doesn't. I wonder if that has to do with the offset...?

I like the offsets of those rims, that's about it though. Too flashy for my style, as I'm sure you know, Mo. ::moebaker::

Haha there's nothing wrong with being conservative Chris. I like your style lol. My reasoing is if I'm spending the money on those brakes, why not have them visible right? :biglaugh: They're too pretty to be hidden. ;)

those rims arn't bad looking. i would paint the center gun metal and keep the lip polished.

That's not a bad idea. I'll see what happens.
