If all else fails I'm sure Tony will be there for some interesting passes.
I do agree with 2jzmk3 though. The old saying is "you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink" is so very true.
I will also disagree with 2jzmk3. "The Fiasco in the Desert (tm)" did take away from SILV. Many people chose AZ over Vegas. But also at the same time our drag racing #s have been going steadily downhill for years.
Blame SILV and the event management if you will but not all of the blame can be put there. We put the watering hole out there - and even give maps and directions on how to get to the watering hole - but if the participants don't step up there is nothing we can do.
Sure... some will say "why didn't you offer a cash payout?" Sure... as soon as we can cover all of the rest of the event expenses and have money left over - before the event - we would have loved to offer a cash payout. The truth is we don't cover all of our expenses and have to cut programs so we can barely break even year after year. Cash payout or trophies? I chose trophies.
On a bright note... All of the participants that are listed on the Dyno Challenge page for the MkIII Smackdown have prepaid their registration fees. That shows me that these guys are more serious than ever on this year's event.
