Sad to see members of our community leave us this way. It doesn't matter if they were active on the forums or not. We have lost lives here. I hate to also see the loss of yet another Supra as well.

Now I have a question about the accident. If, as they say, the passenger was partially ejected, why did it take a cell phone ringing to alert them there may be someone else?

First off... R.I.P. My question is... why drive a car that fast without your seatbelt??? The minute I get in a vehicle, I click on my belt weather i'm the driver or not. It kind of struck me as odd that they were both in their forty's going out for a joyride... Still a sad situation nonetheless. Boost and cruise... I'm pretty sure its not worth it to kill yourself, and a passenger. Damn... they weren't even street racing. This story is pretty bizarre.

Does no one feel bad for the home and truck owner? Personally I don't feel any pity towards retards that speed like that and don't even protect themselves with 50 year old seat belt technology.

Judging from the video.. be on the lookout at the wreckers if you need red interior pieces. :p

It would have looked just like that if the car was a targa. Many of the Porsche targas are nothing more than cloth over a metal framework...

Why do I have the bad feeling they didn't mean to go that fast... how many times do you hear about stuck throttle linkages?

This is EXACTLY what I was thinking. It's an older couple in their 40's, unlikely to drive like maniacs. And I have personally had my throttle linkage jam open causing my car to accelerate endlessly. I knew to turn off the engine, but a lady driver in her 40's may not know what to do when this happens, and it's a matter of seconds until you are at excessive speeds. I bet that investigators find a jammed throttle linkage. Could be a massive lawsuit against Toyota...

P.S. what are the odds they would even check to see if the throttle linkage was jammed open, unless we tell them to check it??

The PO told me my car had this problem at one point as well. That's scary...on the other hand, I believe that if my throttle stuck and I was on a joy ride from hell, the first thing I'd do is fasten my seat belt (well, it would already be fastened if it were me, but anyway), and if I were driving a M/T Supra (which this one was), I'd either be hittin the clutch or knocking it outta gear. I kinda doubt that's the cause of the wreck...

Why does everyone forget brakes?? Isn't that the best friend we actually have? :D
