Yeah I do admitt that dsm's do break alot of parts. Yes the 14b and t25 are small turbo's, but its only a 4-banger not inlince six like mk3's. I love dsm's for the fact that you can spend so little and still have a pretty quick car(until it breaks). But after my car starts costing me alot of money(in fixing things) I'll prolly be gettin a MA-70. And there is a 14b that runs 10's(not 1/8th mile lol).

meh.. This better not turn into a flame war though, let me tell you that.
Do I see people signing up just to defend the DSM side?

All I know is DSM'ers calling the MK3 Supra a money pit and old and unreliable is just.....

That was good, S90T!

Buy what you want, mod it how you want, and be happy. If other people don't like it, who cares?! It's your car!

I agree CPT.
I want to drop a 4G63 into a mirage someday. Make for a hell of a little sleeper. 350fwhp nothing serious.
The 4G63 can lay down impressive numbers with few mods, like the 7M.

Interesting point: In the '80's to save fuel milage the Trans Am was fitted w/ a V6 Turbocharged engine...it was the fastest Trans Am from the factory. I bet that's a piece of information the redneck population would rather forget about. The Turbo 6 cylinder was faster than their big bad V8 muscle. :)

Wow, not even close...

The TTA was never advertised, targeted or even hinted at being some fuel economy vehicle. No, the "rednecks" aren't ashamed of that car or want to forget about it. They know damn well it has a GN engine stuffed in there.

That's like saying camry owners are ashamed of the 2JZ in MK4s. wtf, no.

Infact the TTA was the very first nascar lap car that could do the job completely stock.

As to the thread topic itself. A DSM owner talking about MK3 reliability? That's a good one. Might as well have the NVK talk about the virtues of capitalism...

Yes everything that you guys have said is true about DSM's. But you do got admitt there one of the best-bangs-for-your-buck cars out there.

There is one thing the DSM's have that I wish the Supra had. I want that ECU with the serial out port and the removable ROM chip. With a PDA you can monitor all engine functions including knock and timing. As well as reprogram the ECU very easy if you have a ROM burner. If we had that it would have made tuning so much easier.

Well, my roommate drives one, and I have to admit it's a beast. He has the older FWD version with popup headlights... it runs 12.0 at the track. Admittedly, he's broken a fair number of parts, but then, show me a low 12 second car that hasn't, from any manufacturer.

We drove to and from SupraFest last year in it, he didn't have any problems keeping up with Duane, Don, and Randy... and they are all pushing some big numbers in their Supras.

That said, I still like my Supra a whole lot more. :)

Not bad for a DSM Dave. If it was high boost it would be a different story though ;)

Yes, I will support dsmlaserawd92. I am guilty of bringing him upon this site:aigo: lol, BUT...he's definately not here to argue. Also, I might add that I owned a 3000gt AND some DSMs...and for the record, each car has all had its own problems...and each has the advantages and disadvantages...
Lets just settle it now though...2 completely different worlds when it comes to DSMs and Supras, lol. and tuned correctly, is capable of jaw-dropping:eek2: anybody's mouth whether you're a fan or not.
