I have nothing against DSM's whatsoever. I like them. I don't like the fact that they are bashing a perfectly good car. that's all.

Easy enough, who the hell would buy a car from a company that makes every thing from cell phones to microwaves, just couldnt imagine. Also most popular car getting pushed off the track in town are Eagle Talons especialy the AWD, can't say I've seen a Supra pushed off not in all the years I've went

Actually the CT26 is a tad larger than the GN's turbo(ive measured), the GNX had an upgraded turbo not unlike the turbo A turbo offered for mk3's, but t-types and regular GN's have a slightly smaller turbo than the stock Ct26. now the question would be which is better the 87' GN T3 or the Turbo A Ct26.

http://www.bgnra.org/GNX_Facts_and_ETs_w_border.jpg

there is a magazine, the GNX was supplied with a Garret T3 turbo, and maxed out at 15psi, the same as the ct26.
DUDE, I didn't know there were such things as Trans Am Turbos. Tight shit. :icon_bigg

Interesting point: In the '80's to save fuel milage the Trans Am was fitted w/ a V6 Turbocharged engine...it was the fastest Trans Am from the factory. I bet that's a piece of information the redneck population would rather forget about. The Turbo 6 cylinder was faster than their big bad V8 muscle. :)

Not really, The V8s were pussied down with emissions shit while the v6 turbos didnt produce as much emissions so they didnt have to pull them down so much. anyway the 350 were only putting 245hp to the flywheel. Id put any of your supras next to my bros 70 camaro and you wouldnt race him or if you did youd be crazy. Hes only got $5000 in his engine and hell smoke most anything thats next to him and hes NA on pump gas

all my buddies a couple of years ago had DSM's. GST's and GSX's. I liked the interiors and such, but the cars were finiky. They always had issues. Crank walk, cam sensors... list goes on. stuff that didn't seem right. I can't say the DSM's are a "shitty" car though. They are a pretty reliable car for the beatings they take. much better than a Camaro for example. but a MK3 is a HECK of a lot older than a 2nd gen DSM. Our 90T was pretty neglected, but with a bit of work and patience the cars come back to life fairly quick. I owned a '89 Corvette that was babbied and it was a POS in the department of interior and plastics. that car was a prime example of a older car nickel and diming you to death. I think our Supras are pretty decent to fix up. At least ours are RWD!!!! LOL. DSM.... FWD or AWD. both suck (other than if you live up north and own a GSX as a only car.) I don't hold anything against DSM's, just not my cup of tea.

please dont put down the camaro or a vette. we dont care if you beat your vette to death and it didnt last. My friends Iroc has 150000miles on original engine with 7psi boost and running real strong still car is the nicest Iroc i think ive every seen and its all original. My bro has a 91 Z28 with 200000 miles on original motor valve seals had to be replaced and hes got a 125 shot of NO2 on it, not the nicest car but it sat in field for years.

All I ever hear on supras are BHGs well I very rarely hear of a blown head gasket on GM V8s. My supras got 150000 miles on it and its had 4 engines put in it, ( I wasnt the owner) I rebuilt it right and hopefully it will hold up.

Talons are shit and so are eclipse's. Ive got each in my family and the talon threw a rod and the eclipse has had 3 trannys put in it.

along with the camaro comments there were 2-3 years where the 4cyl turbo rustangs were faster than thier GT counterparts i think it was like 84-86 or so, americans have tried the turbo before i just don't think they found them easy enough to use (read: not redneck friendly). and on the talk of the 1g's can't leave out the plymouth laser the bastard child of both companies that only seemed to come in the ugly colors...

Those Turbo Stangs are fast, slap in a boost controller turn the boost up a a bit and you're in the 12's :aigo:

They would make a good daily driver, except for the fact that I'd have to swap out the front lights. The turbo 4 bangers have the ugliest lights I've ever seen.

hmmmm interesting...i have never had the chance to measure the grand national stuff ....got any actual numbers for things? maybe it was the gnx turbo that was considered "production" while the turbo A ones were not..... so it would be the normal ct26 versus the upgraded gnx turbo you speak of....

well more of a stock ct vs the stock t-type turbo, that is larger. all i have is my own personal measurments as me and a GN guy got into it about whos turbo is bigger. So by that alone technically the CT26 is the largest turbo ever put on a production car. However i have not seen a GNX turbo as they are a tad bit hard to find seeing how there was only 500 and some change of them made, but id like to see the Turbo A's turbo compared to the GNX's T3.

Id also brand the GNX and the Turbo A in the same bracket, both had the same number of cars made "just enough". Both were race versions of the production cars. now the GNX id say has a more efficient turbo if not larger(ive never seen a T3 GNX vs a CT26) than the Turbo A CT26. but it could also be that the GNX is a larger displacement and higher compression motor. i cant find any info on either turbo for comparison.

i actually liked the sunk in HL instead of the newer "flush" mount ones that came after them but i was talking with a guy that had one when i was working at the shop he said it's a quick car but he wanted to do some work to it, haven't seen him since. i'd take one but i'd really like to get a hold of a grand national, or a early to mid 80s monte carlo and turn it into GN

Wierd note about the Ford Turbo 2.3L is that a Volvo twin-cam head fits on the Mustang block. But I'm sure they outsourced Volvo for the engine anyhow...

not really the best arguement. Yamaha does everything from musical instruments to street bikes to home audio. they even have a ring tone service for cell phones... Not to mention assisting toyota in building some of the engines we all love. I don't hear anyone badmouthing them:icon_conf

The yamaha logo is actually 3 musical tuning forks! small piece of info some may not know!
