First off I want to thank everyone who has helped me and continues to help with the build, you guys are spectacular. It really shows what true enthusiasts can accomplish.

Now moving on. I purchased this car last year for next to nothing. Came as an original turbo/auto shell with 90K on it. The body is in really good condition despite being 22 years old.

This car originally was going to be a 1uzfe/W58 daily driver... But after putting it all together, it made sense to not stop there. Soon after the idea of single turbo became apparent.

As the car currently sits, before I tear it apart again:
1uzfe w/ stock ecu
W58
Quantum-Auto manual swap kit
Crown Vic (BBS) Wheels
Tokico Illumina front/blown stock rears - this is how I picked it up as
H&R springs
ABS Delete
JVTR 3 row radiator
unfinished dart-izumi exhaust

And the plans for the next few months include:
Holset HX52 *Billet Compressor Wheel* (single turbo)
Custom SCH10 SS304 Manifolds
4" Exhaust
Blitz Nur Spec Muffler
Tial 44mm Wastegate
Tial 50mm BOV
Megasquirt 3x with fully custom harness
Stitch Weld the entire car
Shave the engine bay a bit
Battery and Fuse Box Relocation
Aeromotive FPR
Walbro 255lph pump
Custom -8AN fuel rails
RX7 460cc injectors
Electric MR2 PS pump
Relocate Alternator to other side, reduce down to only 2 pulleys
R154 or Solstice Tranmission
Feramic 6 puck clutch
Tilton Slave

================

After some hammer action (pre89 issue) to the firewall, subframe, and my brain, I got it to fit perfect. These pics will show a progression from when it went it, cleaning up the wiring and whatnot. And a small video of how it sits right now, before the surgery continues...

Thats it for now, I will update when I can!

===============================

Okay stripped a good portion of the interior today. Im removing the sound deadening and stitch welding it. Drop some weight and make it stiffer, bingo!

Found an AT&T LG phone in the car, any of the past owners (few on this site) want to claim it haha?

Started to take some stuff out of the engine bay...

Got more done today than I planned! Stitched welded a good portion of the car.

And I love this saying...
p1654668_43.jpg

Anyways, since I am removing the heatercore/evap/all ducting but keeping the blower motor, I ordered 10ft of 2.5" air vent ducting to run some sort of circulation system in the car.... stripped or not, sitting in a car with still air in the summer sucks. Should see that soon.

Stay Tuned! :evil2:

lol, those pre-89 mounts are a real "hang up". It took me a week before I finally decided to do a little hammer work...
Looks good btw, Seems you're going the exact same rout as I am with the megasquirt 3 and the holset turbo... gimmie a call if you run into any hangups, as I'm already on the path.

Man that is a stupid clean install. I was going to do the 1uz swap to my supra but honest got scared and now I am stuck in limbo mode not knowing what to do.
I was thinking 2j but the 1uz is still tempting.

Yeah the Pre89 ones are annoying. Im going to remake the mounts using a universal poly bushing...not saying that the solid ones arnt bad, I just need a different setup to fit all this piping

Looking good there engine and such ... IRC that car was the one with custom knuckles in the front to rotate more :)

I did... i liked it as much as I hated it. I realized after going to get it aligned, the camber could be max negative at a hair above 0*.... i would need custom upper arms to make it work right.. and it just wasnt worth the hassle.

So whats up with the engine mounts? You had to hammer the fire wall? When did all this start happening? I have no clearence issues other than the brake booster, allthough my mounts are completly different.

with my pre89 w58, to get it to bolt in the right spot, i had to hammer the firewall a bit... the crossmember had to be hammered to clear the oil pan.

Really? WoW this is still new news to me, does every one with the similar mounts have the same problem? My W58 goes right in with no hammers required.

I dunno about the firewall part either. But for the mounts, if you put the engine and transmission in from the top, the oil pan just barely dosen't clear. I think you avoided the delima by using a lift, and putting the tranny in from under the car if I remember correct.

here's the odd thing, the first car I started the swap on was a 89 gte automatic targa top. The engine had almost zero clearance, then when I switched chasis to the 87 gt manual hardtop I would swear I gained a inch and a half of clearance.... Same mounts, same everything.... Maybe there's different firewalls stamped from year to year? I know this is common with datsun/nissan cars.

Ok, yea. I used a lift to set the engine in first and then the tranny from below. As for the 89 vs 87, the sub frames differ from the pre-89 vs 89+, that's where your clearence differs.

but I have an 88... with ZERO clearance... as in the wireharness is definitely butt up against the firewall... so a bit more BFH work and with a custom harness, it will be just peachy lol.

Okay well pics have been done for a bit, but now back up :). Alright I took a small vacation to give myself a break, but I am back on it. My original goal of a simple 4-1 manifold setup will not work, it just does not clear... oh well, waste of 2ft of SCH10 piping.

So now I made some 2-1 collectors, waiting to weld them, so no pics yet ;).

Busted ass on the MS3, I am ready to install the actually MS3 cpu and the expansion board next.
