Hello all,
Started my conversion awhile ago but ran into an issue of not being able to remove the pan for my oil drain. Decided to pull the whole motor and im glad i did. its going to be a stock rebuild with stock GE compression of about 9.0-9.1 to one. shooting for 350-400 ponies and a some extra torque on top of that.
Pulled the valve covers off and the cams look beautiful! Then when i removed the head i noticed my HG was just beginning deformation that would have eventually lead to a BHG. Cylinder walls seems slightly scuffed and the bearing are toast, crank looks ok though. Exhaust cam was advanced a tooth, drove fine though. Cylinder #2 had a chunk missing from the piston that got hammered around for a bit leaving some nasty nicks in the piston and head:aigo:.Dont know what to do about that yet.
Oh and your gonna love this my banjo bolt on the oil pump cross over pipe thing was on there about ONE AND A HALF THREADS!:yikes: No tools where required to loosen that guy at all! I have to find the magnetic base for my dads dial indicator so i can remove the crank.
