ChadMKIII said:Ah, nope, not me. I was sitting at home at 5.30 lol. Haven't been up by there for a while.
Seriously, how many white package MkIII's or black MkIII's w/ silver 5 spokes can there be around here? lol.
So, all this talk about clay barring: A few ?'s. Is there a special trick to how I would go about doing it? How long and hard do I use it? And I can't use it on the bumpers cuz they're missing the clear coat, right? Any other tips for a newbie at paint care? Thanks guys!

BTW, Anyone know if its ok to use clay bar on the bumpers? The clear coat is gone, so will it strip the paint? Any help would be great. Thanks!

Your bumpers don't look to bad, they still look quite shiny in the pics, which leads me to believe that they still have clearcoat on them...the dirty streaks were just caused by oxidation, that's why the cleaner wax was able to remove them. If you didn't have any clearcoat, the wax would have soaked into the paint, and turned it a funky color...right?
If I were you (without seeing the car in person) I would:
1. Wash with Meguiar's Gold Class
2. Clay Bar ENTIRE car (might wanna do the rims too)
4. Hit the bumpers with 3M hand Glaze
5. Wax entire car (I would use Zymol)
No, that's incorrect. Toyota only put clear on their metallic or pearl colors. The Super Red II, White and Black were single stage paints. When you compound them your rag will turn the color of the paint because it is removing a small amount of paint that has oxydized. This is normal.johnathan1 said:.................... Actually you do want the wax to soak into the paint, it adds oils pack to the paint. Oxydized paint is real chalky, paint needs wax to protect it from drying out.

Wait, so color 050 (super white 4) has no clear coat at all? I thought virtually all factory paint jobs were clear coated...Rajunz said:No, that's incorrect.
