Well...leaving a buddies house tonight...It wasn't raining but it was a little wet...at a stop sign, I took off at like quarter throttle(just enough to spin) and I took off spinning tires walking sideways and went to about 4200rpms...and let the the BOV blow off twice...after driving down that road...I came up to another stop sign, turned, went down to a stop light...while sitting there, at idle (800rpms), It already has a little lope in the idle...but I heard a "duh duh duh DUH duh duh duh DUH" <---DUH meaning it got loud for that one time"....when it went "DUH" it dropped to like 700rpms then right back up to 800. At first I thought my AFM got wet...
Light turned green, I took off, and it was REALLY loud (DEFINATELY running on 5 or less cylinders):(...I was freaking the hell out...I got home...parked, turbo timer was still running so I got out and went back to my muffler and pure black smoke was coming out and the idle was rough(600 to 700, 600 to 700, etc)...It's wet and dark so I am going to go outside tomorrow and PRAY to God a spark plug came loose or I just plain and simple need new ones...
If not that...I won't be coming to the meet...I don't know what happened and I don't think I can sleep on it... :(

*EDIT*...I think I know what it is. I still had my hood off because I didn't think it was suppose to rain for another day or two...Anyways, when i was pulling up to my buddies garage, well, before that, i had to drive like 3 blocks in POURING down rain....and then when I got to his garage, i was waiting for him to open the garage door so i could pull in...and i noticed there was light smoke coming from the top of the block. At first, i thought it was water burning off the turbo/elbow...but now it all makes sense...I bet I fried my coilpack...which would be the reason why it was smoking...which would ALSO be the reason why it sounds like it's running on 4 cylinders. I guess I'll find out tomorrow...:(:(

I would never run without a hood on these cars. Some of those electrical components aren't sealed (TPS) and could fail due to moisture. Installing the hood is 6 bolts. Hardest part is getting someone to help you out with it. :)

You will seriously know if the car is running on 5 cylinders. You'll have to floor the car to get moving. Let alone 4 cylinders. My NA ran on 5 cylinders once... it was all it could do to go 55mph. Lots of shaking and nasty stuff.

If you want to check to see what cylinder it is.. let the car run, and disconnect each plug wire one at a time. Find out when the sound doesn't change. You know you've found your dead cylinder.

If it idles fine and you just get a DUB every now and then.. I wouldn't worry about it. The black smoke would tell me that a cylinder isn't firing, and it's burning the exhaust.

If you can't figure it out.. I'll drop by your place early on Saturday and we'll take a look at it. You're on the way so why not...

Ehh, I think I've narrowed it down to one of my coilpacks frying. Running around w/ the hood off IS NOT a normal thing, LOL. I made a desperate attempt to clearcoat it (car is getting painted in 2 weeks) so I decided to experiment because it was fading badly...put on way too thick, then tried to fix it w/ blue paint which was WAY off...so I just took it off...plus it made it a bit easier to swap turbo's with it off...Oh well. Lesson learned. I'll update all on what exactly it is tomorrow...

^ I'd put my money on a shitty plug. Sounds exactly like what happened when I power washed the engine bay on the Cressida. Water gets down in the plug boot and it wont spark, get the water out of there and I bet it runs fine (I just took the plug out and let it go into the cylinder :icon_bigg )

thats just my call on it.

Well...I've at least got it firing up and idling smooth...BUT...it's still running on 5 or less cylinders...(very obvious)...I don't even WANT to check it...I'm scared as hell...:(

If the car is running on 5... it'll be VERY obvious. I'm talking the engine will be shaking and it'll not want to idle. If it's idleing.. and it misses eveyr now and then.. it's not a big deal. Mine does that. Something about having hte plugs gapped down to .028".

I say you pull the #1 plug boot when its running. Then you'll see how it runs on 5 cylinders. I think you've got a miss at idle. Likely from water. Clean the water out and resintall. I really think it's nothing. :)

Don't let (much) water get into the cylinders. As Matt said, water will not compress and it WILL destroy your motor if you let lots of water in there. Clean out the water, before you pull the plugs. If you get a little in there, no big deal.

This is what it idled like the first time I started it up this morning.
(Sounds like I got cams.:naughty: )
When I drive it...It has a sound like there are like 5 cars driving beside me with big exhausts...and the car vibrates badly when It's in gear and sitting still, it has DEFINATELY lost power...I'll post up another video of it in a few minutes.

*EDIT* Here is a vid of me just revving it up lightly. Listen for the echo'ish sound while revving the motor up. The camera can't pick up the sound quite as good as in person so it's hard to distinguish...

From my 3000GT that I owned, I am VERY experienced with spark plugs and how many cylinders it was running on:( when I was having problems...and My supra is sounding like that right now...:( :nono:

I hate to say this but maybe you have a BHG?...remember you are running on the orginal HG retorqued and now have a 60 trim....its going to happen just a matter of when not if.

I'm sure Matt and I would change that for you for about a grand and 3 rebuilt turbo's.

Welp...Spent ALL day working in the hotttt ass sun...and I fixed it. :)

"I'D LIKE TO THANK MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS WHO WERE THERE FOR ME:bigthumb: , AND TO ALL THE HATERS (JASON)...F@#% YA!:icon_wink IM OUT. AIGHT PEACE.:chicken:

LOL..no, I didn't fix it "completely"...I still need to get wires...
Turns out my spark plugs were POOP and one of them was breaking away and chipping off where it sparks at...it was terrible. On the 4th Plug, I pulled it and the plug wire was physically in a thread just stuck to the spark plug...So...I just pushed it back up inside the wire for now until I get new wires...but It's running STRONGER than ever...but I still have FCO.
One thing I noticed that was weird is that my BOV isn't as loud...I didnt' even mess with or nor any of the BOV lines so I don't understand why it doesn't CHIRP like it's suppose to.

An update on my FCO problem... It's down to 8psi now.

Any codes? Plugs are easy.. start there. Then move on to checking codes and then onto checking out the TPS.

EDIT- I think this reply was open for a few hours while I did homewerk and got fuel in the daily.

Glad it's fixed, now for some NGK wires.
