Damn.. no love at all on this forum for the 1JZ.. I'll never understand where all the disrespect comes from. hehe. Funny how this race is becoming the end all 7M vs. 1JZ race when my car is making less power than Duanes. We're trying to get it a little closer but he will still have more HP and TQ when we race. What most of you are not paying attention to is there is a lot more to drag racing than HP & TQ figures.. Gears, shifting, launching.. Duane has clicked off a .5 second faster 1/4 than me, but our traps are very close.. 128 best for me and 130 best for him.. I have cut 1.67 60's on 18" drag radials.. Duane has cut a 1.5 on ET streets I believe.. I will be bringing a set for myself so hopefully I can improve my 60' a little too.. So as you can see, the cars are not too far apart when it comes to straight line performance.
I know you guys love the 7M.. and I never dog it (too hard) for real. This year I have installed 4 7MGTE's at my shop and continue to support them with tuning and aftermarket parts. I'm not one of those guys telling everyone to swap to a 1J.. Some driving styles and customers needs just dont call for a 1JZ.. and some do. The 1JZ is a great motor and I think its due a lot more respect than it gets on these forums. Until you have completely dissasembled and rebuilt both motors multiple times, your "garbage car" comments mean nothing. (Jersy Guy!) :icon_razz

Matt- I don't think this is the end all 7m v. 1jz tussle. As I recall you called Duane out. Everyone here is just saying who they think will win. I personally think Duane will win in the 1/4 mile. I think you guys should do a 1/2 mile drag race. I think the end result would be different.

I am going to have to go with everyone and say duane is going to win. I love his car, but I am anticipating a great run. It doesn't really matter which car wins because they are both mkiii's, even though I like 7m's more because people don't respect them as much in my opinion so someone needs to show how great of a motor they really are.
