well, i decided to get off my lazy ass while waiting for my cousin to weld some spots on my car for me, and actually do something. i whipped out my MAFTpro unit, and decided to delve into the wiring.
by the way, i put this in the general section because with the new software releases, it's able to be used on N/A cars as well.
so, the wiring was super easy. all of it only took about a half hour, and that's including waiting for the brush-on electric tape (love that stuff) to dry. i decided to solder the harness to the engine harness instead of using the connectors that came with it. i don't like those style connectors.
i'm also running speed/density. no more AFM for me!
my first impression after i did the setup in the quick start manual? awesome! the car fired right up, and even with fouled plugs, ran great! (albeit, on jackstands :icon_razz) the idle was way more smooth than with my lexus AFM (which i'll now be selling) it revved up nice and smooth, too.
now i just need a wideband to hook up to it, so i can not only track my AFR, but use that AFR tracking to my advantage. (i'll be buying that from dr. jonez)
i still need to set up the boost control function, but the bulk of the install is done. (the boost control is the plug and play harness anyway) so it's wicked easy, but i want to get the car good and drivable before i raise the boost. i'm already using a dr. jonez MBC at about 15psi.
once my new turbo gets here, i'll hook up the boost control and tune this sucker.
i just figured i'd post and let you all know that thus far, i love it.
and dr. jonez, if you read this thread:
my TPS output voltage as indicated by the maft pro is between 3.5 and 3.75 volts at wide open throttle. (throttle plate fully opened, i checked while a friend held down the accelerator pedal) the maftpro manual says it should be about 4.5v at WOT. should i look into adjusting the TPS? or is this alright. the car ran flawlessly before i put it on jackstands.
also, i'm eventually going to run timing control, but i'm not familiar with any of that yet, so i've gotta do a LOT more research so i don't blow up my car
