well, i decided to get off my lazy ass while waiting for my cousin to weld some spots on my car for me, and actually do something. i whipped out my MAFTpro unit, and decided to delve into the wiring.

by the way, i put this in the general section because with the new software releases, it's able to be used on N/A cars as well. ;)

so, the wiring was super easy. all of it only took about a half hour, and that's including waiting for the brush-on electric tape (love that stuff) to dry. i decided to solder the harness to the engine harness instead of using the connectors that came with it. i don't like those style connectors.

i'm also running speed/density. :) no more AFM for me!

my first impression after i did the setup in the quick start manual? awesome! the car fired right up, and even with fouled plugs, ran great! (albeit, on jackstands :icon_razz) the idle was way more smooth than with my lexus AFM (which i'll now be selling;)) it revved up nice and smooth, too.

now i just need a wideband to hook up to it, so i can not only track my AFR, but use that AFR tracking to my advantage. (i'll be buying that from dr. jonez)

i still need to set up the boost control function, but the bulk of the install is done. (the boost control is the plug and play harness anyway) so it's wicked easy, but i want to get the car good and drivable before i raise the boost. i'm already using a dr. jonez MBC at about 15psi.

once my new turbo gets here, i'll hook up the boost control and tune this sucker.

i just figured i'd post and let you all know that thus far, i love it.

and dr. jonez, if you read this thread:

my TPS output voltage as indicated by the maft pro is between 3.5 and 3.75 volts at wide open throttle. (throttle plate fully opened, i checked while a friend held down the accelerator pedal) the maftpro manual says it should be about 4.5v at WOT. should i look into adjusting the TPS? or is this alright. the car ran flawlessly before i put it on jackstands.

also, i'm eventually going to run timing control, but i'm not familiar with any of that yet, so i've gotta do a LOT more research so i don't blow up my car;)

I can't wait to go Maftpro, still working on getting every thing else squared away before I go for it and learning more about it in the meantime from threads like this, keep us updated.

Nice work Shaeff!

The wot tps voltage you are seeing is correct, I think the 4.5v was probably more of an estimate. .5v to 3.6v is the average normal voltage swing for the 7mgte.

Glad to hear that it is working well for you.

How long have you had yours? I need to get off my lazy ass as well and install mine. I have had it since the middle of May or there abouts.

Spent all weekend taking out the lowering springs to go back to stock and changing stock front lower control arm bushings to poly-u's.

Oh well, maybe next weekend.

Where did you put your IAT sensor?

And where did you get liquid black tape?

Thanks

Wayne

Thats great! I was thinking it would be great if you could dyno and report the change in HP numbers (assuming same boost, temp, and mods). Change would probably be minimal, but just an idea!

thanks:) i didn't want to have to whip out my TPS adjustment contraption. (two tiny female connectors crimped to two old multimeter wires so they don't get loose- works like a charm;))

about 2 months. :p that's how i was, but i was also dealing with lower control arm bushings! i changed mine to nylon, though. ;) i put my IAT sensor in the location of the stock BOV port on the 3000 pipe. i had to "rig" it like that because i can't tap that pipe, because i sold it already. this is only temporary to get me going. (i sold my entire stock IC and piping setup to s383 here on the forums, and have an FFIM ready to go in as soon as i get my TB (coming soon) and new side to side IC.

and i got the black liquid tape from a local hardware store. i love that stuff!

damn right! :) shoot me a PM when you're ready to do it, i'll take a run down and give you a hand. :) and yes, it replaces the need for an SAFC.
