this is very good info, ill checkout the toyota mr2 forums and see what they say.Shawndude said:I don't remember all the details any more, but the overseas 90+(?) MKIII's did have a oil pan with a float sensor. I posted pictures and running oil heights etc about it on Supraforums a way back.
I believe the float sensor is identical to the North American 1991 MR2 units. It works by having a magnet in the float, and a reed switch in the bracket that makes the connection once oil drops too low. I bought a comlete oil pan/sensor from Arnout a while back, and he said he had few more available.

The Supermonitor alerts you if you need to change your oil. I say if you want a "warning", install a Supermonitor in your car. Plus, it's text reading instead of a light.
i check my oil everyday or at least once every two days. but it wouldn't hurt to have that extra bit of security in case something decides to happen after you already checked the oil.shaeff said:i check my oil every time i drive the car, sometimes twice. also, when i pulled my motor apart to check everything out, i lowered the pickup further into the pan.

interesting know any part #'s?ATS_Scott said:FYI the MK2 MR2 turbo has an oil level light, basically the light comes on if your approx. 1 quart low. The sensor is a float-type and is very fragile. They are also a little pricey, but if you forget to check your oil it might save you a motor...
