so when i start the car a lot of white smoke comes out my exhaust and it wont stop till it the engine is fairly warmed up. i know white smoke can mean a blown headgasket but i dont really think thats whats wrong. is there anything else that would cause this? maybe blown valvegasket?

::bhg:: lol, but this can also be many other things. you already knew that though, so here's the advice: get that checked asap, even if it does clear up at normal op temp.

ohhhhh... didn't know it had been sitting... have you serviced it since? oil and filter change, coolant (important after bhg), trans, differential, fuel, etc all need to be flushed and replaced after sitting two years...

If has been sitting that long than chances are the valve stem seals are rotted. If enough oil is burned it will come out white. And that's also th exact symtom of valve stem seals but majorly bad.

If you're not losing coolant and the smoke goes away once it's warmed up, I can almost guarantee it's not a BHG. It's most likely a mix of condensation and leaky valve seals.

Two possibilities here: valve stem seals and bhg...as noted by other posters.

Differentiating question: How much condensation do you get out of the exhaust? If there's more of a water drip than normal, I'd put real money on a blown head gasket; bad valve stem seals wouldn't let enough coolant through into the combustion chamber to get that much water in the exhaust, unless there's a massive amount of condensation somewhere...in which case, you'd be having other symptoms.

thanks for the input. from what i noticed it i dont get much if any water coming out the exhaust and ya it goes away as soon the car warms up but ill pay more attention to exactly how much water im getting out the tailpipe.

Very bad valve seals will cause white smoke, I just went through this. Also a bad turbo can cause it. Take the plugs out of the cyls and check to see if there wet with oil. If they are then its a good bet its valve seals. Take off the exhaust elbow and see if there is oil in the exhaust that will let you know if a bad turbo is causing the problem. Also check the turbo for shaft play. If there is no oil in either place do a leak down test of the cyls and keep the radiator cap off to check for bubbles or to see if the coolant level rises when the cyls are pressurized. A compression test would also be a good check for head gasket problems.

thanks man good to know. unfortunately i have a NA but ill keep the turbo part in mind wen i eventually swap. i was actually in the process of changing my spark plugs but didnt notice any oil on them but i still have two more to change ill pay more attention when i do that. so what exactly would i be looking for if i did a leak down test?

as requested here is the video of the exhaust from hold start to warm up. the video is kind of long it takes some time for my green beast to warm up lol but u can see how much smoke comes out at the start compared to being warm. also just to late u now that it was reallly cold this morning so the exhaust appears alittle more then it usually does

click on the image it will redirect you to the video

i forgot to mention earlier that the fumes smell like straight up gasoline is it possible that it can be my fuel injectors getting stuck open?

Rich fuel smoke would be blue to grey, bordering on black sometimes depending on burn efficacy; think of that black puff you see when a poorly tuned turbo shifts. White smoke is usually water or oil being burnt. Oil will also take on a blue tint, but smells different than gas.

Guess we can all tell who grew up around carbed American cars, huh?
