so heres my story I've done the 12v. mod to my new walbro and my mods are as follows hks f-con, fcd, fmic, 60-1, 2.5in piping.

Alright so basically my car will start right up until I start driving not right away but after it warms up my afr guage will be super lean between the red and yellow unless I floor it or somthing but out of know where my guage will drop off no red nothing and I will lose power momentarily and then the light will blip back up and power will return and keep bogging all the way home.

I've checked connections everwhere and have drop the fuel tank more than anyone wants to in a life time. oh and for some reason the first relay I used on my 12v. mod blew somehow but I've sinced replaced and problem still occures but I know with mods I should be running super rich.

someone please help.

thanks
Michael

I dont have any idea of what to check anymore it as if my fuel pump is clogged or being blocked by something but I've takin it out so many times and it looks fine it sounds good when the car idles it has that loud whinning noise. No leaks of any kind spark plug wires good, cps, good just bad afrs and loss of power.

quick questions whenever I put my fuel pump in I feel it hit the bottom of the tank and I have to somewhat force it down and start threading the bolts is this normal, only a slight bit but I know its hitting the bottom of the tank.

also there seems to be a grainy substance on the bottom of the tank probally rust aswell should I clean the tank and replace the strainer and this may possibly fix my problem.

thanks

Or could it possibly be that my fuel pump relay is going bad or what I have know idea what to check anymore it will crank right up and idle sounds a little funny like its not getting enough gas or pressure or something of that nature mabye I just got a bad walbro or something mabye but why would it allow me to drive for a lel if it was a bad pump.

thanks
Michael

clean your damn tank/get a new one already. of course rust and shit is going to plug up everything in your fuel system preventing proper operation. Fix this, and see if the problem remains.

Alright I just drained my fuel tank and theres alot of rust in the bottom my strainer is orange and if you flick it you see alot of rust falling out of it.

And what would you recommend I clean it with diesel or what. I mean what will pull all that damn rust out.

also I'm going to pick up a voltmeter later and test the voltage on the.

Just to makesure since I did the 12v. mod with the relay when I jump terminals b+ and fp and I check the voltage it should read 12v. regardless right.

and what do yall think if I was to drop some magnets into my tank to hold on to the rust would magnets even pick up rust or not.

get a new tank or one from a junkyard. rust inside the tank is fairly uncommon even on cars up here in canada. I wouldn't bother testing anything else until you fix the tank, change the now (likely) clogged fuel filter and clean the injectors.

Alright do you think I can run some fuel cleaner through to clean up the injectors or should I remove them and clean them.

thanks

If you have rust in your fuel tank, no magic cleaner is going to make it go away. Either acid wash and re-coat, or get a new tank and not worry about future rust.

Quit listening to the 16 year old kid at the auto store. Do you want dish soap residue and rust in your fuel system?

Something I just relized while I was going over the thread of how to do the 12v. mod to your pump I relized my dumbass never bypassed the pump relay and resistor by jumping B+ and fp do you think this could be causing my problems or sypmtoms.

thanks

Dude I seriously had this same problem. I don't care what you do to your car, your fuel pumps are gonna fuck up unless you fix it. I killed a walbro in less than 2 weeks trust me I know.

So your saying you had the same problem by forgetting to bypass the relay and resistor.

rusty gas tank, sry for the confusion. cleaning that tank should be #1 on your list of things to do. Even if you didn't get your pump wired in correctly the rust will kill it within 3 weeks(if you even get that long). Also be careful if you get it acid dropped like I did with mine, the acid eats the rust away so that if there is any small pin holes(that may be plugged with rust) it'll eat through leaving a bigger hole.
