No work today Scott..........you know I play golf on wednesdays. I played golf, shot 76 and I'm putting my clubs up for a while. I can't take it mentally. I want to break a club after every shot. After golf we played poker. The cards were good to me today and I made about six hundred and fifty dollars. Got through with that and then went and played tennis for about three hours. I was driving the car home and decided to do a datalog'd pull.............same shit, different night.
I'm going to look into using the stinger for a boost controller and see if that does anything. I can't seem to make the AVC-R do anything differently. I've got to work tomorrow so I don't know if I'll even get to drive it, but I'll keep you posted.

Scott, what thread are you talking about with the blue supras. Can you post a link?

time for my plan! :)

You mean this one?

Since your boost doesn't work as it should, you know you just have to fill the car up with c16, disconnect the side port of the wastegate and connect the boost source to the top port of the WG and let her rip.:evil2:

Me too Mark. I'm going to do another boost leak on it this saturday. Keylan is coming over and we're going to a supra meet in Birmingham. When we get done we're going to see if we can find another leak somewhere..........crosses fingers.

We're going to meet at the Jim N Nicks on highway 280 saturday at 1:00 p.m.
Keylan and I are going to be there for sure. I know of about six or seven more that say they're going to be there, but I don't know them Scott.

October 24, 25th is going to be a great meet at Steele International Raceway. Last year was a blast. George came up and stayed the weekend with us. I know there was at least thirty supras there. Let me know if you think you can make it saturday.

I was reading the AVCR manual tonight to solve my similar boost problem. Have a look at the Feedback setting for 3rd gear. The manual says, "if boost is dropping off, adjust feedback setting". The numbers 1-9 are slow to fast. It doesn't say which way to adjust it, but I'm going to try this tomorrow.

If it is only in 3rd gear, I can't help but think it's the boost controller settings for that gear. How else would the engine/wastegate know what gear its in!??!

Good news! The key to my problem was in the AVCR manual! I adjusted the duty a bit but it was then overshooting by 2psi, but found a setting that was stable. But for the dropping boost problem, the feedback setting for each gear was the solution. I simply upped the feedback for 3rd gear from 3 to 7 and it's now holding boost in 3rd. It still fluctuates a bit but I think fine tuning and the self-learning of the unit will smooth that out. I also upped the other gears a notch as well.

Glad I didn't have to monkey with my wastegate! Glad I can race and dyno in Vegas at full boost!

I'll give this a try and see if it helps mine tomorrow. Hopefully I'll be as lucky as you were.......crosses fingers.

You're having your boost issues without the boost controller on, I doubt its your issue.

Jay, try connecting the wastegate to just the turbo, one vac line between.
BTW does your turbo have a t3 or t4 flange, and are you using a turbo that uses standard to4 feed and drain fittings? If everything matches up, or is close enough that I can send you some parts I will. This has been going on for too long. I have everything here to set up my single on a 1jz, including the oil lines.

I get the exact same result with or without the bc, so I'm going to adjust this and see if it helps. His car was doing exactly what mine is, and I've tried everything else. I don't have anything to lose.

I have ran it with just one vacuum line, but I ran it from the throttle body to the wastegate. I can do one pull with it connected to the turbo to see if that helps any. I've tried everything else so I'm willing to try anything.
I have a T3 turbo on a T4 flange. It's been running this way flawlessly for almost a year now. It's seal'd really good. I have the oil return and the oil feed that I got from Aaron with my setup. I really don't think it's the turbo because it boost up super fast when the wastegate is closed. Hopefully I'll figure something out tonight after work. Thanks again guys.

Connect it to the turbo. Keep your vac lines as short as possible.

I adjusted some things on the avcr and it didn't change much at all. I'll connect it to the turbo and see how the wastegate performs from there and post back later.

Jeremy, it is the same manifold that I used when I went out to Texas.

Hey jay, I just read your whole thread! god damn! so much troubleshooting!

Now, I'll try and contribute at least something...I read that you're using pretty much all the same parts, excluding the intake manifold gasket. You've replaced many like the intercooler pipes etc. hoping that it's the problem. You've also checked parts individually like the intercooler.

Have you checked the system for boost leaks yet? I don't mean parts individually, I mean the whole system...as it sits, assembled? it could be something weird with a fitment angle or hanging stress on a part that allows a coupler or gasket to seal improperly when it's all together.

something like this should do the trick.

http://www.vfaq.com/mods/ICtester.html

as stated, forget the boost controller completely. until the waste gate is functioning properly on it's own, the boost controller is just another variable that you don't need...
