That sucks about your cam. I ordered some BC 272's for my 1J a few years back and had a cam break just by sitting in my garage over the winter. I called them up, sent them some pictures, and they were able to send me a free replacement within a couple of weeks. Hope all goes well with your return.

ok sooooo camshaft has been installed and car now starts up after setting up timing....im getting a slight miss when reving though....not exactly sure why, i gapped the brand new spark plugs @.028 im getting spark in all coils. I'm def. not sure why this is going on.

I am thinking it might be the CPS since i took out the internals from one and put them in this one and then made sure all the gaps were within spec but im not sure if that was a good idea....

im thinking the same thing but i've turned the cams many times without the timing belt being on (by hand) and never had this problem. Any ideas on how it could have bent the valves?

also it does smooth out when i rev it pass a certain point.

Dunno, do you know exactly what the piston to valve clearences are?

There are a few points that it's MUCH closer than when the piston is at TDC so it might have been close enough to touch a valve when it was hot and running, I had this a few years back with my 7M and was only an issue when the engine was cold, it would miss a tiny bit then clear when hot.

Cold leakdown was 40% hot was 8% as the valve leaned back straight!

Cleaning up with increased rpm might just be not enough "time" for the leak to make a difference.

ok i found the problem....after installing a new cps and resetting the timing once again the car fine....i drove it around the complex and the miss started up again.....which meant it had to be electrical.
After shaking some wires i ended up holding the ecu further up and the problem went away....problem is i can't find the damn wire causing this issue.

I want to try to log all of the parameters to do with the ignition or maybe just the input/outputs corresponding. And see if the aem log will show a diff. and help me locate which wire it is.

**edit**
Idling pretty nicely, just seems to have a small exhaust leak somewhere near the testpipe or midpipe.
