x2 with these toyo's 2xR engines. I had a 76 celica 20r engine that went over 300k miles before my weber carb blew out. I also had 82 celica with 22r that had 280k plus miles before the engine quit.

I'm gonna have to say the 22R as well, my 1987 Toyota Pickup 4x2 was over 300,000 when I sold it, and it didn't even burn oil, lol. I will also nominate the VG30i, from my mom's 1990 Nissan Pathfinder 4x4. Has just under 270,000 on it right now and continues to run great!

Edit: On a side note, my 7M-GTE is also hanging in there pretty well, all things considered.

IMO, the 7M-GTE doesn't class as "reliable" because for several reasons. Poor headgasket and oiling system design... most engines left the factory with an inherant HG issue built in. The oiling issue meant that the punishment for not watching the oil was very steep... combine this into a car with a "Turbo" badge on the back and it's likely going to get abused alot through its lifetime. Now they're ~15-20 years old, and any headgaskets that have held on that long are reaching their breaking points.

Fixing the headgasket and watching the oil levels, in my opinion, would make the engine last an abscenely long time under 300rwhp.

Engines that last forever are engines that left the factory with zero flaws designed into them. The 7M... didn't.

The 4afe in my DD is taking beatings as grains of salt. It's just under 200k mi, not much compared to others, but all I have to do is keep it full of oil and it's fine. I see these things with bottom end problems regularly, but that happens to appliance cars when people don't know how to maintain them. Mine has great compression and pulls a strong steady vacuum too. It's a real shame the car around it is showing its age.

My buds old '91 Camry which he traded in with 280k+ miles on it was a champ. It may have been slow as hell but that thing was reliable, plus I've never seen a more easily accessible oil filter in my life (pop the hood and it's staring you in the face). It was the 4cyl. Another friend had a '95 or '96 Camry with around 300k before selling. V6 in that one. Not sure of the engine codes.

I bought my 92 supra 7mgte with 476,363 klms on the clock! aside from the no1 rod out the side of the block I'm taken it for what it is. I dont know how many head gakets it had but the head was remaned once , now twice lol. I also have a 94 toyota tercel with the 3EE that has 413,00 klms on it runnen like a top. Yes it burns oil and knocks a bit but what the hell she dosent owe me a dime!
