There's tools to do it, but seeing as it's a stock intercooler with stock turbo and pipes it's not going to make any difference at all.

Stock boost is 6-7 psi. Running 10 will put you near fuel cut. I Really don't think you can hurt anything if everything is stock because fuel cut will shut then engine down before you put it in harms way, that's why it's there.

If you have a FCD and are trying to run 15+ on stock turbo and intercooler with stock injectors and no tune whatsoever then you'd have issues.

The stock intercooler sucks anyway because it's tube and fin so a few bent fins aren't going to kill it's efficiency like a bar and plate.

Turn it up to 10 it will liven the car up a good bit. An intercooler change and tune with an SAFC or the like would be next step and make the car come alive.

At his level, replacing the intercooler piping is going to make a much bigger difference than replacing the intercooler.

I drive like an old lady lol. Once in a while I'll go wot for a couple seconds no more than 5500 rpms.

Honestly, wtf is the point of having a nice looking car like yours if you're going to do that? I beat the shit out of mine on a regular basis... kind of a perk when you buy quality parts in a nice car and maintain it. Leave the granny stuff to the honda bois, go out and enjoy the car!

That's how I enjoy my car. I'm sorry I don't like abusing it. I would never feel comfortable driving it. I love my car and love driving it, and love it for what it is.

Stock intercooler is actually quite good compared to other stock intercoolers...

Good for stock, shitty compared to nice bar and plate after market intercoolers. Replaced mine with an HKS drop in, its roughly the same dimensions on all sides but the difference is very noticeable, night and day. Thats just switching from tube and fin to bar and plate with same rough dimensions.

Its large for stock aswell, compared to the usual side or top mount. unless your talking about a diesel truck those are the size of refrigerators.

Well put. I'm sure your car will be in tip top shape much longer than some others around here. Not saying either way is better, but I completely understand not thrashing around town in a beautiful, nearly classic car. :)

AND getting pulled over just to have them nitpick your car because of it... I run a front plate for that very reason...

Just remove the Front plate completely, i did it and i havent had a problem for a year and half now.

I thought about it. I just looked at my intercooler again and the fins look worse than I thought. I don't see of anyway bending them back easily. A lot of them look flattened, but a good amount look ok. Should I be alright?

I wouldn't worry about it man, and if you don't drive you car hard then I would also leave your boost stock. If you really want to fix it I would recomend removing your IC, getting a case of beer and a straight O-ring pick. The rest writes itself.

what about those "jdm" license plate holders? pr ypu can do it like motorcycles do and bend it into a circle length wise.

Well then I think I'll leave it as is. I don't drive my car aggressive. I drive like an old lady lol. Once in a while I'll go wot for a couple seconds no more than 5500 rpms. Do you think I'd be OK? The head bolts were re-tourqued.

when I used to be able to drive my supra that's how I drove; I'd rarely go wot and when I did it was usually til I reached 80mph. I wanted it to last.

Probably all on pea shooter turbos...

What was the point of your post again?

Back to the OP, yes, you should be fine, you could make a better bracket to move it forward farther so air can get around it easier.

If I were you I'd just leave it. If you want to feel more power just go wot more often. What I would do is turn it up to 11 and bolt the plate to the bumper, I'd feel less comfortable with the obstruction of air than with the holes I made that wil be covered by the license plate anyways. And enjoy the car, I wish I did, things appearently don't last as long as you'd want them to cus you have to factor in more than just how you drive on the road

Personally I'd relocate it to the side of the bumper where its not going to get in the way of air flow, if you don't want to drill holes in the bumper then you could make some L brackets that likely someone else has already said and fasten them using one of the mounting points that hold on the bumper.

Well, I want to leave the license plate where it is, but now I'm more worried about those bent fins. I still would like to get some more power, I want to get a DDP with a re-routed wastegate pipe. I think that would put me around 9 psi and then I can increase the boost to around 11.
