I want to do a survey on the people who is running on stock headgasket and retorqued to 70lbs or higher. How many psi are you running right now? If you did have a BHG, what psi did it blow at? I am not referring to people who have BHG and running stock gasket with stock torque 56lbs or MHG.

Apparently not if Nick's head gasket is still holding up...I think that the stock torque spec is only one factor of many that contribute to BHG's.

true that but it is a major factor.

LOL, because 58lb/ft plus boost = BHG

Its all in the tune.

Nick knows what hes doing, and im sure hes aware that 99% of the people on here blame BHG's on there supras, when, 99% of the time its the owners.

/opinion.

edit - I was on the stock head gasket/bolts this whole summer. ANd i didn't baby the car to say the least and had ZERO problems. Just do your maintainence, check your coolant and oil and you should be good. Its all in the tune.

maybe so, but i bought my completely stock 90T with a 3" book of receipts of meticulous care from previous owner. He had two bhg in 110,000 miles.. he just put a reman in it with 3yr unlimited mileage warranty. First thing i did after reading on here and SF was arps to 85 lbs. Stock boost right now, but going to 12 lbs very soon.

And

So obviously it wasn't meticulously cared for.

Here is a prediction. You will blow yours, and you will get rodknock, if you keep it long enough.

I'm not totally against rod knock. Lookin' for an excuse to cost justify tearing it down and building a 600hp car.

Unfortunately, I don't think i'll get the opportunity, cuz the guy was career air force in california, always dealer serviced , syn oil, owners manual stamped. Car is in beautiful condition, new rad, alt, kyb's, interior perfect (until the heater core hose leaked on me). All reciepts, which is why i bought it. Btw, I wouldn't do half the service he did, or pay a dealer to do it, and i have an engineering degree. I have put syn gear oil with lsd additive etc in, and going with the lex mod.

You're being petty and coy, here , Nick. You have some knowledge to add to the forum in your thread, nobody's stopping you. We responded to your survey, now fess up your secret sauce, brother...what makes up Nick's "tuning" to avoid bhg running 58 ft-lbs with an alum head mounted to a cast iron block?
