Why bother with tearing them apart? I'd build the PCB in segments (4) drop them in and solder in jumpers linking them together.
Maybe you're right! That way, burnt out LED's could be replaced later on. It would be tricky, but not impossible. Looking at my tail now, I might even use a dremel to cut away all the black plastic close to where the gasket seals and that would really open up the back and make it easy to rig up a big board.

You need to separate the tail light housing to be able to install a board inside.

Not at all. If you're using segmented PCBs the existing opening is plenty large.

You have to seperate them period if you want it done right.

Mk3 Supra have a diffuser in the lense it must be removed LED's need a clear lense.

Will it look blurry if I leave the diffuser in? I'm leaning towards cutting the back housings open to do the retrofit. I don't want to have to worry about water getting inside later if I separate the housings via heat. I can also remove the diffusers this way too.

It wont look blurry the clear corners example has them in there still if you want clarity I'd take them out.

You can seal them back up with the right silcone, water wont ever get in if you have the patients and sense.

I just took apart some spare cracked up 87 tails, there is definitley a white diffuser lense in it I removed it and its definetiley something to remove for the clarity.

I will be posting pictures when I put an array for the stop, turn and reverse.
