The nuts are on the underside. Pardon the pun.

- Remove the two hatch cover hooks
- Pull the plastic cover off the bottom of the hatch
- Inside, where the wiper motor / rear window defog connections are, you'll see four nuts.

One other thing I noticed in that area when I pulled my car apart is that in the channel under that black trim piece there are a few little plastic clips that kind of act as guides for where the hatch glass is meant to go I think, but either way regardless of their purpose these clips just push into a hole in the hatch and would be another potential source for a leak

Those are blind holes on my car - they don't go all the way through to the inside.

Oh OK

I will have to have a closer look on mine when I get a chance, I was trying to decide what to do about those

Does the lower trim have any form of seal from the factory when you buy a new trim?

I know it's a little old, but still really good info here.

Grim, are these bolts the four that run across the bottom, underneath the glass? If so, what exactly separates? I don't have my deep well sockets right now to figure it out... :(

Yes, the new one comes with little foam seals around the base of all the bolts.

That's correct - and all they hold on is the bottom piece of window trim, they don't have anything to do with the glass itself.
