that crank isn't going back in my car anyways...if you would have read...Plus that crank is solid steel...how could it bend? Just curious...

Well the block is getting cleaned but i found out that the crank where the number three bearing goes was 25 under....so i got my cuz at his parts shop to order a re-manufactured crank from Detroit that is 10 under and comes with all the bearings matched to fit...YAY!!!...294 dollars...plus shipping (beats the 910.60 for a brand new one from the dealer...FUDGE that...)....I would recommend getting a gasket kit also....i got one cause my gaskets were messed up!...Pics Sooon when i get all the Goodies! In the mean time i'm going to make a sweet mailbox out of the old crank...or scrap it for some cash...LOL....Any ideas?...

I have read, I just noticed and just as forwarning next time.

Gravity bends it ever so slightly, With things like that are suuuuuuuuper tight clearance, anything small can screw it up!

All the old time hot rodders used to string up all their cams and hang them because laying them down for too long can cause them to warp and wether it's slight or not, who wants to deal with it because of that.

I would say that if its shrink wrapped or sprayed styrofoam your probably good. It won't warp overnight but a week and climate changes hot wet dry cold cause the metal to do it's thing. And the next thing you know somethings loping wrong.

Not to cause controversy guys. Don't get me wrong. Nor am I chosing sides.

As far as I'm concerned blackdynamite is one of the most hip new guys we have had in a while. Some of these old timers have given out so much information over the years that they can't remember what all they have said. Hellslegion usually gives sound, intuitive advice with his own style and flare. Wich is cool too.

well i wasn't even taking a side really...i was just......asking why...lol:biglaugh: ...the way i learn is get both sides of the story! Some people may say something is better than something else....well then, explain why that is...lol....but i can't wait till Tuesday or Wednesday when the crank comes in and my block gets finished...YAY...i got the camera ready!!!!!...OH and i got a original Toyota Repair manual from my Toyota program...but it's for a 1986 1/2....the car looks just like mine and everything....would this be a good manual to use for torque specs and etc?...because i know they changed something in 88 if i'm correct and they had head gasket torque specs::bhg:: that were wrong....blah blah blah...

That tsrm you have is going to be engine specific. But it won't hurt you to have around at all. LOL FYI..., alot of our cars look the same.

You should go to toyota and actually pic up the tsrm you need for what you have. They cost about 75 bucks.

not around here....they jack the prices up...there are not many supras, maybe 3 total, in my town(population 90,000)....one of those 3 is mine...one has a blown engine and one has big RIMS....not racing ones...."Ghetto-Tuckin-Phat-Rims"...lol...it's a shame....BUT there is a junk yard that has a ShiteLoad of wrecked ones...:)

A salvage yard with supras in it is a huge plus. I can't find one in a salvage anywhere I can drive to in a day. There's only 3 in my town as well.

One has a blown engine. One has a jdm engine that spits oil out as if it's lubricant intolerant and then there's my little old na.

Dude how did you get the crank pulley off of yours?? Or were you just thrashing shite you knew you would be replacing???

when you say crank pulley, you mean the Big thing on the crank that turns the belts(alt, water pump, etc) or the small timing belt pulley on the crank?

The first one came off with a pulley removal kit...quite easy...(i'll find a picture)

The second one came off with my hand after a slight small pry with a piece of wood(so i wouldn't damage anything)

Yes I'm speaking of the 3 in 1 crank pulley.

Nice pic. I have done everything including jamming a pry bar into the flywheel. I just can't bust this biotch.

What is the name of the tool in the pic? Is it what every one calls a pulley puller and how did it work. I'm having a hard time removing the bolt in a big bad kinda way.
