Hmm. I've been running knock sensors out of a '95 4-runner (square plug) on my '88 now for 4+ years, no problems.

Well got it fixed. No more CEL!!! I switched back to the round knock sensors and fixed the problem.
thats good to hear...was woundering where i could get a new plug end for the knock sensor not the sensor it self got one i need to replace

If you have a 7mgte, you have two knock sensors; one directly behind the alternator, halfway down the block, and one at the same height farther back, nearly behind the starter.
If you have a 7mge, then you have one, and it's between the two aforementioned locations.

Maybe someone else can chime in, but how often do these things actually go bad?
I imagine it's the wiring that ends up being the culprit 99 times out of 100.

I had one go bad on me randomly, which triggered the light. After I found which one it was and replaced it the light went away.
