^^^^^^^^^^Yeah right....

I think the people that bought the Supra back then were people who liked Corvette's, Z28's etc. but were looking for something a little different, and a little more sophisticated.

You have to realize, there wasn't alot of variety in terms of performance cars back in the days of the MKIII. Mostly what you had were big, poorly made gas guzzling V8's.

Take a look at a 20 year old american car...if you can find one, they were shit.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^ What?

I have an '89 in the shop that is an original owner car. He is a Jamacian guy that works for the Highway department. I also bought my '90 from the original owner in '93. He was a microsurgeon and bought the Supra for his kids to share before they left for college. It was the only thing the kids wanted that had an airbag and ABS.

Ugh, I've never understood this way of thinking...don't crush the car...find someone that you feel comfortable with owning it, who you know will take car of it. Crushing/destroying it would be a terrible waste of a car...supra or not.

When it has 300,000 miles on it, I don't want to see it with non Toyota wheels, a lip, a wing, alteeza's, or who knows what. Although some of your non Toyota wheels look pretty good.

It is a car, not a person. Think of it as Old Yeller.

Question is, who is buying them now? Apparently, from reading SM, the answer is a bunch of "cheap-asses", haha. We complain about having to pay over $3k for one, and then we call them a "money pit".

Seriously, who are you and why did you buy one?

I am a middle-aged run-of-the-mill professional in the computer field (ie, geek). I could afford a more modern car, but I like my MKIII because it is unique and different. When I pull up at a stoplight in my altima, I usually see 2 or 3 other altimas at the same intersection. Don't have that problem with the supra. With the targa top off, its just plain sharp. Looks better than most modern cars. AND ITS ALOT OF FUN TO DRIVE !

Best complement I got with the supra - I was at a client when one of the staff members, a guy in his early 20's, came in and said, "Is that YOUR supra???" and I said yes, he said "Wow, I would never have guessed that you drove that kind of car..".

I'm one of the ones that bought a Lexus later. The SC was closer to a succesor to the mk3 than the mk4 was, IMO. The SC is gone to its new home tonight though and the mk3 is still here.

Yep. You could consider the JZA80 Supra an all new car.

While your car has improved from what I see, many others seriously degrade the car. You went to SILV. I saw those trashed cars with engine swaps, how sad.

What if the someone actually doesn't lowball you?

What are you talking about? You are making assumptions about the car going up for sale. It won't. If it did, all sales are negotiable. Unless Barrack Hussein Obama or Billary win. McCain isn't exactly a supply sider either.

The kind of person like ME but who had money. If any of you young'uns had driven a BRAND NEW MKIII you'd understand. At that time it was the greatest thing I'd ever driven. I put it over the LS 400 I drove that day too. I pretty much consider an MKIII an early model Lexus anyway. I just couldn't afford a $30k car when I was 22 y/o.
