the guy i bought mine from was a car salesman for toyota when he purchased it, and coincidentally i bought the car from him at his job at a ford dealership.

Basically the same, cept my original owner bought the car at the dealer he owned for his wife. it then went to their nephew or something, and then swept up by me! :D

What kind of person do you think bought these cars back then?
Why did they buy other than for obviously liking the car.
Ive just always wondered since ive never lived during those days, if the MK3 Supra was just as popular as the G35 is today (i see them everywhere). I just wonder how often they were seen back then when they were knew and how other people viewed them.

What do you guys think?

My uncle was the original owner and now I have it (after paying for it of course). Not really sure what type of person he is though.

i bought mine from an accountant. he was definetely that kind of guy because he saved every single service record and receipt since the car was new in 87. Very well cared for. he eventually gave it to his son until he went to college and sold it behind his back. i guess he got too many tickets.

Im not sure as to if a new mk3 owner has a common stereotype like corvette owners. and im sure we've all seen "that guy" with his brand new z06 that refuses to go over the speed limit.

People that wanted a Porsche 928 but couldn't afford one.

Actually, I went with my dad to the dealer when he bought his 86 Celica ST, with a lot of "manual features". They had one of the first MKIII's on the showroom floor. It was a black N/A with grey leather. I hopped in while my dad was doing paperwork. I remember telling him he should get one of these instead. The Celica was $11,500 and the Supra was $19,800 at the time. I sat in the seat and adjusted to fit me and rowed through the gears imagining what it might feel like to drive this monster. I was 14 and wouldn't be getting my liscense for another two years. So I took a poster home, put it on my wall and started to dream. I ended up wrecking the Celica when I was 16, and bought my first Supra when I was 17 Back in 1989.

I bought mine new in NJ, traded in my 82 MK2, which I did not buy new... I'm not that old! And I didn't want a 928, no wait maybe I did! Most recent car I bought was a Sienna, how times have changed

I was thinking about gettin 1 after high school. I had an 88 gt 5.0 at the time and 2 friends of mine bought new cars in 93. One friend paid 13k for his 93l 5.0 lx coupe and the other (trust fund baby) a 93 tt supra for 54K. In the mid to late 90's MKIII were hot in FL. Whne the tt came out in 93 the car was killing everything top end. I remeber seeing MKIII take out Vipers with juice and all sorts of stuff back in the day.

Damm guess I am getting old.....
