Just got in an accident - the irony of it all...

Yesterday, i posted about how rare my supra was in the UK, and now, i've been in an accident. Thankfully not serious, but enough to put me in a bad mood.

I was driving back through Wood Green this evening, and its usual chaos, i was sat in my lane waiting for the traffic in front of me to move, when some complete nob-end in a nissan micra pulled out of the side turning without looking - straight into me :(

The door is knackered - completely bent in, the glass doesnt go all the way down either. It shuts though, so i can at least lock it and alarm it.

Also, the fuel tank is leaking, although i'm not sure this is a result of me filling it to the brim yesterday, or because of the impact.

Any idea where i can get a black door for a pre-facelift?

*sigh*

It's not my day today

doesnt look too bad. you brits have body shops right? take it to them and see what the official word is on it. then maybe look for a new door if it comes to that. is the door sill still true?

Theres a body shop in Palmers Green just down the road, but they couldnt even do the fenders for me. the Door itself looks true enough, just at the bottom its been hammered in . Dunno if the body shop would be able to do anything with it though :(

well, the person that hit me just shouted at me for getting in his way, despite the fact that he was at fault, and drove off without giving insurance details, so i cant claim against him. Ed's giving me a number to ring tomorrow so i can claim from the govt pool that exists to help people out in the event you get spadged by an uninsured driver or are involved in an RTA hit and run.

What a fucktard! I would have chased his ass down and made him pull over and give me his insurance info. I sure as hell wouldnt have let him drive off on his merry oblivious way.

Did you at least get a licence #? if you did you can have his ass ticketed for H&R.

As for your damage it doesnt look too bad. I would say its fixable, but just painting a new door would be less hassle.

Problem was, i was in a lane of immobile traffic during rush hour and he's in a micra...I did get the license plate though, but according to the DVLA database, its a bent plate - ie, its just someone elses plate, not registered to his car - allowing him to get away with speeding tickets and parking fines...

I'm HOPING the door can be fixed, i can get a new one off Ed no problem (well, a blue one off a pre-facelift that'll need spraying. But i'm worried about the fuel tank drip drip dripping on the floor now and the sill - if the sill is bent, can that be repaired?

I dont see how the hit you took would in any way cause a fuel tank leak. Sounds like a coincidence to me. Probably more serious than getting the door right, I would look into it ASAP.
