Thanks rx7nut for explaining my choice.
I don't want to pull a motor for a metal head gasket if I'm going to be keeping a stock bottom end for now with no extra money for a rebuild.
If it blows again then I will replace it until I'm ready for a complete rebuild
I will say the headwork that I got done. Really helped with low end torque
Still need to update with pics
Also suppose to be getting another auto trans with low miles.
In which I will have valve body modified and shimmed accumulators

Yeah, the stock 7M internals and gasket can take a lot of abuse if you keep a safe tune. I've got ~20k miles on mine running ~11psi and hundreds of redline WOT shifts. For me, that's plenty of fun for a relatively minimal amount of motor work. It really is a stout motor.

Keep up the good work!

I completely agree with it being a stout motor
But on 11psi(guess stock charger) your really missing out :)
Did some fine tuning yesterday and today on my way to work
Sitting on 23psi again. Had to retune a few things due to changes in head

Now only if my 1-2 shift wasnt shit and trans didnt slip in 2nd lol

Haha, I would love more power! However, with my current set up I've designed the entire car around ~400bhp or ~325whp. I've got a w58 (freshly rebuilt), 3" exhaust, freshly built ct26 54 trim, OEM head gasket and internals. If/when my current setup gives way I'll go all out and aim for 500-600, but I enjoy the daily drive-ability more than anything. I can drive it 7k miles a year or more and not worry about anything. Plus, even at my current power it's plenty fun. I can drive for hours with nearly no drone from the exhaust and still beat most anything I come across on the highway on-ramp. The current power level is nimble and agile and until the rest of the car is built/restored I don't I'm missing out on too much.

How many miles do you have on the current set-up or how much do you plan to drive it now that it's back together?

When i 1st purchased my supra it was my daily drive 80 miles a day 5 days a week. Bought with 76k miles and now has 88k miles
When i tore it down for BHG repair i purchased a 88 celica alltrac for my winter daily and more then likely summer daily. Although i have been driving the supra all week since brake pads on celica where metal to metal and special order lol. Put pads on yesterday and come to find out my pistons are sticking. Again special items 1 week out. But i can have a rebuilt kit tomorrow for both fronts for $5 a piece. So i figure i will just rebuild current calipers so the supra can be parked for winter.

Once spring comes around i plan to drive both cars to work half/half the time.
By spring im hoping(fingers crossed) i will have a good auto trans with shimmed accumulators, built valve body, stahl convertor, jz cop mod, n/a valve covers installed and paint bumpers and fenders with toyota super white.

I have a 3in downpipe and hks super dragger and love it. So quiet. With the rebuilt head i can barely hear the engine run its so quiet lol

I also found a coolant leak from what i believe to be lower radiator hose connection above p/s pump(i reused oem clamp thinking i was cool lol). Going to fix it this weekend hopefully

So after driving the supra for the better part of last week it has come to my attention my trans is really slipping bad in 2nd gear with the new head
So i bought another low mileage (80k) a340e from a buddy of mine
This weekend im going to remove the valve body and have it sent out for modding
Also picked up some n/a vvti 2j coils and wires for my cop mod (clean up bay)

Also going to toyota later in the week and ordering the 90 degree coolant hose running from tstat housing to pipe on passenger side of head and other 90 degree hose on the back side of this pipe that runs to the head
Apperanetly they have become a little soft and need replaced(also had 3 coolant leaks due to loose hose clamps which have been fixed)

You wont believe what happened :)
BHG haha. But it wasnt my fault. 2000 SS camaro wanted to play. Well i got the win but he got the last laugh as white smoke poored from my exhaust :)
Got some plans that are in the works:
Titan MHG
ARP headstuds
FFIM
Q45 TB
Mini wire tuck
Polished n/a valve covers
Battery relocation
Possible blitz fmic(if trade pulls through)
New a340 trans with modded valve body

Heres how it sits:

selling maft pro and going megasquirt(deal in the works)
should be ordering an assembled unit with custom wiring harness for my ffim, jz coil over plugs and custom cps

Well i removed the motor/trans last saturday
Disassembled motor to have it machined.
Came to my attention my motor will need bored over.
So i began searching for the next best option.
Found a 2jzgte with twins, harness and ecu for $1500 shipped. Had everything lined up to buy but backed out.
For the past 4 years i have this urge to do something different then swapping in another Toyota motor like everybody else.
Have decided to swap in a Chevy LS 4.8L with 4L60 trans
Going later today to pick up my motor/trans set
Ordered my GT45 turbo, 42lbs injectors, 3 bolt chevy flanges and T4 flange last night

Will upload pics later tonight for the fun to come :)

Thats the plan :)

Found a company that makes LSx swap mounts for 91-92 cressida.
Going to see if they'll let me be a guinea pig and try them out on the supra.
Then i would buy if they fit.
Best part is if i blow the 4.8 up. Ill simply drive to the junkyard spend 300-500 on another 4.8 and drop it in again lol

I saw an LSx swap kit in the classifieds on here a few weeks ago. I know IJ has done it. Do you have a set date you're trying to get it done by?
