I know this is the least of your worries right now, but are you running a stock exhaust mani?

Reason asking is your intake hose looks way long. My intake hose is just a 45 deg bend about 6" (if that) long.

Yours looks to be around a foot or so. How did you do that?

Yeah, I'm running the stock mani. And a stock ct. My plan was to get the motor broke in (not broke, haha :icon_conf ) and then start doing HP mods.

The intake is a 3" 45* IC pipe cut down on the turbo side. It also had to be shortened about an inch at the AFM (I think with the AFM on there is what makes it look long). On the bottom, I had to weld on a tube for the ISC and stock BOV air line and add a nipple for the PS idle up line. I may not be understanding what you're trying to figure out. But here is a link to where I bought the pipe in a 3" size, it is also where I got the 4" 90* IC pipe to make the heat shield for the DP elbow. pipe

Once I go with a MAP set up I will have to replace that pipe with a longer one to reach the air box. (-AFM)

Well, after trouble shooting today. (read more hear: Tech section help It does not look good for this motor. After 6 months of work, looks like I've got to pull it all apart.

The motor is under warranty, but that means the same company that built this one would be building the replacement. Not sure if I want to chance it. I will be calling them monday to see what they say.

I would not worry too much about the pistons unless it does not quiet down a little after it warms up real good. Mine sounds like a diesel when its cold. After I hit boost a few times it sounds fairly normal but it still has a distinctive forged piston sound. I have Ross pistons and they are fairly noisy. I have build several engines with JE pistons and they were a little more quiet. Both had about the same clearances. Forged pistons are basically for race engines, if you don't want any noise then you don't want them.

Thanks Arron, but the bad thing is, I don't have forged pistons. They are just larger OEM pistons. Also, it seams to get louder every time I run it, and it gets louder as the motor gets warm. In the video, the engine is warmed up. (190-195)

I hate to say it Jimi, but from the sound in the clip, I think it's safe to say you're developing rod knock. I know because this is exactly how my car sounded when it was in its first stages of knock, I'm sorry man.

why do you tihnk you got rod knock right after the rebuild? any ideas?

I have yet to pull the motor, so I don't really know yet. But others have pointed at the fact that the crank was turned, and they probably removed too much (basically the crank was not reusable, but they used it anyway) That is all assumption at this point. I will know more when I pull it and drop the pan. All info with pics will posted.

Side note: I called Jarco today. And I emailed them the sound clip. I was told that I will hear back from them tomorrow (needed the engine builder or someone? to hear the clip and they had left for the day). So we shall see.
