Very few updates recently due to finals week and sudden load at work.

But hey, spring break! and time to start getting some real work done.

this weekend got some stuff taken care of and ready.
Got the intake manifold back on and fitted right, new spark plug galley gasket.
dscf3288kt2.jpg

Installed the J-tube block off plate and some SS lines.
dscf3274bg2.jpg

Got the RC 550's in place with new o-rings and grommets. All they need is the clips soldered into the harness and some heat shrink.
dscf3278kz3.jpg

got that stuff out of the way but ran out of time that night so it had to wait.

I like that last pic. :)

Just a few minor things to wrap up before Centralia...;)

I still think you should go with a full 2.5" hardpipe setup. There are a couple of ways to do it so you can use the Bosch BPV for now and then switch to a Tial without having to hack up the pipes too much.

Looking forward to helping with the rest of it but mostly the MAF-T PRO.

Updates

Been totally swamped with work since i dont have school so any work i do has been in 15 minute increments, ugh at this rate i wont be done till june but after this weekend im gonna have to kick it in to high gear and go nocturnal w/ it.

Wheels are finally done, base coated and cleared all around and i think they look awesome, im hoping the white in the back will reflect light and illuminate my illuminas a bit :biglaugh:

dscf3310qu4.jpg

Washed out a ton of dirt from the hatch area and got my TEMS hooked back up front and back its ready for reinstall of all the plastic stuff.
dscf3301fq7.jpg

and finnally finished up the AFPR, cut some hose to size and i geuss the mounting bracket wasnt designed for the tems plastic cover so i had to shave/bevel off about 2-3mm of material but the fit is good, (anyone know how to get the guage to sit straight up, the damn thing gets to tight as i screw in)
dscf3319mt6.jpg

Anyway hope to have some actuall progress soon, Its minor things for now while im waiting for pro.

Looking great! That fuel line looks pretty short though, Hopefully there will be enough clearance when the alternator is in!

UPDATES

Today I finally got around to changing my fuel pump and installing in the new stuff. I have seen a few threads floating around asking some basic questions so I decided to just make a how to out of my update.

Keywords: Walbro Fuel Pump Install Gas Tank Removal

anyone who doesnt trust my way, go ahead and do it this way,
http://www.jblmk3.com/walbro.html

First of all in order to get to the pump I had to drop the tank. :::sigh::: but oh well the first thing to do is remove the 4 screws holding in the plastic piece around the fuel filler hole.
xx3tb9.jpg

After that the main bolts holding the tank in place and the lines connected to it need to be removed as well. It is preferable that you drain the tank before hand most likely by siphoning the gas out w/ a tube but I couldn’t get it all out so I did it w/ the tank half full.

xx0rz9.jpg

There are two electrical clips that need to be disconnected, those can be reached through a small hole in the hatch, or you can wait till the tank hangs up on them to find them and re-solder the clips, up to you.

x35ox0.jpg

There are two bolts up front by the differential that adjust the height of the tank, and 4 bolts near the rear bumper support, those need to be broken loose but not completely removed.

I used the help of my old friends jack and jill to help hold up the weight.

xx2ac2.jpg

After the tank is down and all that dirt has fallen on your face pull it out of the way and take a look at your fuel filter tucked back inside above the differential, now is a good time to change it. Always do as much preventative maintenance as possible.

xxfp4.jpg

The two fuel lines connected are a bit tough to reach but w/ the tank out it’s a breeze. I used a WIX replacement filter but if you want the Toyota one here is the part #

x32av9.jpg

After that is hooked up you can move onto the actual Fuel pump, in this case I’m doing the Walbro 255lph pump.

I am a bit anal about dirt so I washed off my gas tank not only to continue the cleaning process but to avoid letting dirt fall into the tank. There are 3 parts that can be accessed the only one we want to mess w/ is the one w/ the gray clip and two fuel lines coming out.

xx3dns5.jpg

Once out this is what the stock pump should look like, its huge compared to the Walbro. In order to complete the install the new pump will need the electric clip w/ wires, 2 butt connectors, a rubber hose w/ clamps, strainer, and rubber boot. (maybe some instructions but they didn’t help me much.)

xtoe6.jpg

Once hooked up it should all look like this, the instructions say to cut the hose to size but I used the whole length to add some downward pressure on the pump to keep the rubber boot in place. (if you see anything wrong with this speak now or forever hold your peace. I was worried about which wire was negative and which was positive but used my black and red logic.)

Assembly is reverse of install. Hope this helps someone.

Definitely helps! I'm going to have to do this soon, I think you've given me some confidence to do it sooner! I knew it was an easy job, but seeing your pictures, I now know step by step what to do! Thanks very much Jebus :)

How was handling the tank by yourself? I figured you'd want a hand with that but it must not have been too bad with half a tank.

Two things I see: Pump not clamped to the bracket and I would have trimmed the leads way down so you had just enough to make the connections. Clamping the pump isn't too big of a deal because the hose does hold it in place fairly well. I would be slightly concerned with the wires though. They will move with the sloshing fuel and possibly chafe and/or fatigue the connections. It would probably be worth it to redo the wiring, IMO.

Today

started the day off good as soon as i got off school i started cracking away at the electrical side of my oil cooler and fan, had to pick up some stuff but it will prove to be useful later on.

dscf3369oh9.jpg

Installed an inline fuse to keep it safe and added a beefier ground for the cluster of wires under the fusebox.

dscf3373dn2.jpg

Had to go out and buy new fittings for the cooler because the other ones just werent going to work, meh as long as it works.

dscf3370rl8.jpg

Started routing and finalizing the placement for my stock oil cooler and lines but had to go custom for it all to fit behind the IC,

dscf3376ek0.jpg

dscf3378gm6.jpg

well lunchtime is over, time to get crackin again.

Progress

Started getting ready to put the car down on its own weight for once and saw just how sucked in stock offset is, eww. oh well.

dscf3407wo5.jpg

Soldered up the RC's to the harness and covered them up w/ some heat shrink and they are pretty much good to go :icon_bigg

dscf3410fr7.jpg

Got some much needed piping from JC whitney and had a chance to start the upper portion of the intercooler w/ help from Gerrard.

dscf3411oy6.jpg

My bay is finally starting to look like an engine bay, just a few more little things left to come in, final welds on the pipes cus they are currently held together with ducktape, and she's ready for PRO!
