After a long night of being out celebrating a good friends girlfriend leaving Brisbane for work opportunity elsewhere, I wake up to this. Some bitch said someone was up her ass so she pulled in to quickly to the park infront of me, which turns out isn't even a carpark it was the front of someones driveway. She did some damage to my supra. I will atleast say she was kind enough to leave a note, but now guys, should I be trying to source a whole new front bar and just try and repair/unbend/bog dints to do it myself or just take it somewhere trustworthy and get them to do it. Both of us have full comprehensive insurance so I won't be out of pocket except for not having my car for how ever long they take to fix it. Enough rambling. Photos.

I'd take it to a professional and let her insurance pay for it.

Will they actually try to repair the existing front bar or source a new one and paint it etc. I just do not trust panel beaters in Brisbane.

Have her ins replace everything.
Looks like you have some pricey add-on's there i.e. blister side markers/a duct/dual color turns.
Get a price for replacing it all and hope for the best.

I would say get her to replace everything absolutely, especially since thats a turbo A isn't it? Or am I just being thrown off by the black sawblades and duct?

Go through insurance.

Get a few (at least 3) different quotes, and tell the foreman doing the quote exactly what you want.

They would prefer to source new parts, as in their eyes, it is a "quick and lovely" job (ie - easy money).

If you want the actual damage repaired, make sure to explicity state that to the people doing the quotes, so each one that goes to the insurance companies is identical to the other.

Thanks, you think I could even source new indicators/front bar? I would love a brand newey but don't think it will happen. Is it possible to unbend it because as you can see its clearly kinked and it has popped my duct out of place aswell. Think it will be pricey?

^ it shouldnt matter what it costs! your not going to pay it. I would state OEM parts, not aftermarket as it never fits quite the same.

I see nothing to be pissed about here. You got hit but the other person actually left a note. Do you have any idea ow rare that is? A few weeks ago my DD got keyed all down the passenger side. Now I'm stuck with either having the whoe car painted or driving a car that looks like a piece of shit. THAT is a problem. Can you tell I'm still pissed off? lol

Good luck with the repairs. Good advice in this thread. Post pics when the car has been set right. :)

Exactly! So there is no need for the hate. Get her ins info and contact them if she hasn't already.

Your car is old so don't be surprised if they try to write it off. The damage looks minimal but it's yet to be seen what got f-ed up in places you can't see.

get a few quotes first. but to be honest, new toyota parts might be more expensive from the dealer than the parts you bought. so you might end up with some extra cash in your pocket.
in my experience, ive gotten more money from the insurance company than the actual cost to repair the damages. the work doesnt seem too bad that you cant repair yourself. just get a new fender and moulding, then bring your bumper and nosepiece to a reputable body shop to get painted. then put them on yourself. that will save you some money in the end

Brisbane has some great panel beaters, if you don't trust them take it up the highway towards Maroochydore and there's a little town called Beerwah, they have a panel shop called Topgun which is pricey but very good.
What a shame they had to hit a Turbo-A...Just for that i'm going outside to cuddle and reassure mine.:biglaugh:

Let me speak with my bf when he gets home, and I'll get back to you... He's a dual trade panel beater and spray painter, so will be able to answer your questions better than myself :)

EDIT - he is home!

By the time they finish repairing your current bar, it would work out cheaper to source another one. (This is because of the material it is made out of)

Remember though, HER insurance is paying, so it's a matter of how long you want your car off the road for. AFAIK you can get one new from Toyota, or you can source a great second hand example.

Any other questions, post up, and I'll get him to log in and help you out.

Man, I don't even think they still make Turbo A parts..

tell her insurance company to cut you a check for what the parts are worth (A LOT) and use that money to upgrade with high quality aftermarket parts (shine/s2/ab flug, etc)...
