Man, I don't even think they still make Turbo A parts..

tell her insurance company to cut you a check for what the parts are worth (A LOT) and use that money to upgrade with high quality aftermarket parts (shine/s2/ab flug, etc)...

Yeah they still have parts, they are just dear>

Do you know of any Toyota Parts places that actually have people who are willing to try and source parts in Japan. Everytime I have tried to source anything for my car from Toyota , I always get some old twat that tells me its discontinued or bla bla bla. I don't give a shit how much it is going to cost, SHE is paying for it ALL. I would really really like a whole new front bar with a new lip 'that she tore off'. Any decent body shop should theoretically be able to put my turboa duct into a new bar if it comes to that and a new oem one cannot be sourced?

Hello, nice looking turbo A you have there.

Where about in Brisbane are you? Have I seen you on Cavindish road, would have been a few months ago? I was in a silver A70 giving you a thumbs up and looking like a dickhead.. :)

Sorry to see this happen to her, but at least the person who hit it left a note :)

*Definately* have it fixed professionally! Anything else will look like crap, and your car deserves a lot better. Threat this as a chance to have all the stone chips on the front of your car fixed. For free! Don't settle for less than perfect :)

From the pictures you posted it appears the following are damaged:

- Front right quater panel
- Nose cone / header panel
- Side indicator
- Front indicator
- Side trim
- Front bumper
- probably the wheel liner and bumper attachments.

Replacing / fixing / painting all those parts as necessary is going to cost thousands of dollars, even using 2nd hand stuff. Just let her insurance deal with it!

Catching the bus for a few days will be worth it when you have a sexy new black front end :)

Ring Castle Hill Toyota (it's North West Sydney). They deal with all the import stuff.

You will need to tell them:

- Whether it is an actual import or Aus-delivered model
- VIN number
- Engine number
- Exact month and date of build
- Model code

Here is their website:

http://www.castlehilltoyota.com.au/parts_accessories.php

Give them a call :)

I can second the willingness to help and quality of service from castle hill toyota. They often get stuff to me faster than my local dealer and haven't screwed anything up yet. I have only dealt with James Sloane at Castle Hill via email and he is a champ :)

I have always placed my orders using the online form and the replys are very prompt.

I don't see why YOU need to do any of that in this instance though. This is an insurance job for sure - specify OEM toyota and let the paint / panel shop handle it.

Once again good luck!

Behind the keyboard...
To me that looks like a fender, bumpercover, nosepiece, partial paint and some elbow grease. Hell by the looks of it she barely scuffed the panels. There's a good possibility that you can sand that fender down, and repaint it.

I'm not saying you should do all of this yourself but, seriously, she left a note. Don't rape her too bad or she will never do that again. It's rare that people even leave a note so don't abuse that.

She's done the responsible thing, agreed. However, nobody is getting 'raped' if the job is done correctly and paid for through HER INSURANCE. That's the reason it is there, and costs lots of money. They aren't exactly a charity...

She will have to pay her insurance excess in any case, so go ahead and get it fixed professionaly. This is a rare car that was in great condition - it shouldn't be left in average condition just to do her insurance company some kind of weird favour!

She's obviously a nice person bu she still made the mistake and now must use her insurance to pay for it, it's no biggie. The previous owner got hold of my turbo-A parts so i"ll have to get the contact off him.Be careful and stay in contact with whoever is repairing the car just in case you come back to pick up the car and it has a factory standard bumper in stead of the turbo-a one.

Fuck it I'd insist it be repaired correctly or it's worth nothing...

A70's are already worth jack shit here and to botch or half ass a repair on a Turbo A devaluing it even more would be criminal.

Make sure you point out it's one of 500 to the insurance company and provide documentation.

+2!

You didn't buy a car as rare as this to use as a 'run-about'. There's no cost to you to ensure it gets fixed correctly, so make sure it happens :)

PIITB?

Dude, I went through it with my old NA. Got NEW dealership parts. F the insurance companies...they're sitting there right now thinking about how to screw you, it's their job. Yours is to do right by your car as both your baby and an asset.

Oh, and do the legwork for your own shops/quotes...again YOUR car YOUR shop. Stick it to the man.

And at least she was cool about it...your in a better place than most who get the ol' bump and rub in a parking situation.

EDIT: Damn, you're in a Turbo A?!?!?! Don't let this slide, you'll regret it. Man, you see how I was about my POS N/A...

Any updates on the insurance situation?

Why are you trying to source parts? Why isn't her insurance doing the legwork?

Ask about a "normal" A70 front bar.

You can then get the panel beater to graft the Turbo A vent in :)

No freaking joke. My car's been nailed on more than a few occasions while in parking lots, and no one has ever left a note.
