No biggie - when one torrent site falls, two rise in its place....theres always Ares client anyway...or demonoid.....or torrentspy/mininova/tpb etc...
which have nothing on oink, oink was fast, high quality music, viruses were never in any torrent, people would get uplaod rights taken away if they uploaded transcoded audio, and they kept leechers out, i had nearly a terabyte uploaded and now my ratio is gone :(

IRC is SLOW since you download from one user to another without a swarm...

Demonoid is still up as well...

hell, when suprnova went down I was ticked... but mininova came in it's place..

I think it's hilarious since CD sales went up after all the file sharing started, but things like iTunes, ect have brought them down. So they list THOSE stats to make it sound bad...

try downloading a couple gigs through MIRC...

not to mention you have to find the rooms to do it in, it's overall one of the worst ways IMHO...

BTT is damn near flawless...

Mirc will be slower, but it is safer then any p2p program you will find. With mirc you are not sharing your files and sharing/distributing is what can get you pinched in the long run. Some people would rather wait the time to retrieve downloads then to be subjected to a lawsuit. There may not be a huge chance that you will get caught, but it is still a possibility.

Like I said before: newsgroups. Where do you think most IRC users get their files in the first place? There's a few terabytes of new data on them every day. Plus it's fast, and it's anonymous, and you're not sharing anything.

Edit: And there are newsgroup tracking sites just like any BT tracker.
