HAHAHAHAHA Good. Someone tell 'im that octane booster sucks asses. SportCompactCar or Turbo actually did test a lot of them and said a very select few actually do bring it up a number or even two, but what's 2 octane? not much... not much for $7 or whatever. Just buy Tolulene or Xylene and actually do something with your money.

premium here at most stations is 92 octane... id rather just go to sunoco and get 94 octane for a few cents more a gallon than get 92 and use a $8-$10 bottle of octane booster that gives u like 1 octane pt. octane booster is ricer juice. 10hp in a can. Such shit. Wanna confuse a ricer? tell them that higher octane makes gasoline less combustable.

I found out that the cpu LOVES 7 gals of sunoco 94 and a gallon of toluene.

I don't think I've felt 10psi pull so hard in my life....

Yeah...I'll bet it does :biglaugh:

I just put a gallon of Xylene in a tank of 91 Octane myself...felt really strong...very noticeable. :burnout:

I didn't go with the xylene simply because I have heard it being corrosive.

Chemically toluene and xylene are an aromatic circular hydrocarbon chain...almost identical. Xylene is not as evaporative though.

Now, if you were talking about Isopropyl Alcohol, Tertiary Butyl Alcohol, Methanol or Ethanol...all are corrosive. Attacks rubber, magnesium, and aluminum.

BTW...you were running 96.5 Octane ;)

Found a little more info on this:

Xylene is the "X" of what is called BTX, or BTX catalytic reformate. The "B" is benzene, while "T" is toluene.

All three of these aromatic hydrocarbons feature the very stable benzene ring, which is a series of alternating single and double bonds between carbon atoms. There is additionally one hydrogen atom joined to each carbon atom through a single bond.

Toluene is a variation of benzene in that one of the hydrogen atoms is replaced by the methyl group (CH3), while xylene is essentially benzene with two methyl groups.

Traditionally the fuel industry has seemed to favor toluene over xylene (who knows why -- perhaps there is some more profitable market for xylene somewhere else, etc.) although both can (and are) used in racing fuel.

The blending octane values between the two are quite similar, with xylene having slightly less sensitivity (S = RON - MON).

nice info. from the reaserch i have done xylene requires adding lubricant (such as MMM or gear oil) now toulene does not as it has lubricating ability. anyone can confirm / deny this

I read up on that too...ATF or light turbine oil seems to be the choice for adding a lubricant. 3-4 oz to a gallon of toluene or xylene. Personally, I don't think it is necessary...the gas in the tank has sufficient additives to provide all the lubrication the engine needs. We're not adding enough to really have that much of an impact in this respect.

LOL...that's one of the problems with toluene. It's a chemical used to make Meth...price has doubled in the last couple of years (not to mention crude prices). Makes it harder to find too.

I can see it now...I go out and buy a 55 gal drum being my 'ol gearhead self to mix with gas. Next thing I know, the DEA is bustin down my door scaring my wife to death while I'm out the the garage, music blaring, happily turning wrenches :wtf:

LMFAO!!! God I hope not.. Fucking drug operations have a way to ruin everything!! :(

Yeah the local Menards and Lowes don't carry Toluene any more (also known as Toluol) because of all the missing teeth meth heads.

Any who, my gallon from Sherwin Williams was around $12 and I was carded for it.

Any major chemical mfg can get it in 55 gallon drums though.

Just a some notes that I found:

-Toluene resists self detonation under high pressure (boost)
-toluene has to be 70+f to actually burn completely.

Yeah...neither Lowes or Home Depo had toluene. Gotta check Sherwin Williams out...the xylene was $14 a gal at HD.

The burn temperature is the biggest case against the xylene...it's higher than toluene. Not a problem here in Phoenix though! :D

Another interesting thing about the two chemicals. The label remover "Goof Off", is 50/50% Toluene, and Xylene, with some color added to it! now I'm not saying that I would pour "Goof Off' in my gas tank!:aigo: just thought that was interesting. I did recently try Toluene, and noticed an immediate difference in performance, WoW!:icon_razz I am curious to know how much Toluene it takes per 10 gal. of 92 oct, to reach the 100-105 oct level?
