If you dont post the years of the car it doesnt really get us anywhere ;)

oh and just for the newbs... It is considerably common to swap parts from the n/a mk3 to the turbo. Parts such as the intake cam which is supposed to be a considerably decent modification. There was a writeup on supraforums at one time including a dyno chart.

Also it is common for people to switch out the 373 diff for the 430 found in some na mk3s.

I have no experience with either but the na cam switch causes a lot of fights as far as how much power gain(if any) it offers. Also it plays around with your powerband.

The 430... a friend of mine has it installed and enjoys it, but i have heard that the gear ratio can be a little annoying for every day driving.

As everyone knows the MK3 is a fat pig that's slow as balls until it gets into boost. Steeper gears give much better acceleration on, and most importantly off boost. Day to day I could potentially hit 10+ stoplights just on my way to work. So we're talking over 100 light in a typical day. That’s 100 times a day that the car will just jump off the line instead of the typical slow ass piddle that MK3s usually leave at.

4.30s will cut your quarter mile by about .3-.4, which is a considerable gain.

For me personally it was my favorite mod. I liked it more than full bpu, more than my T4 kit, more than anything else I put on the car. Actually it’s a toss up between gears and a 3500 stall, but that’s a different story. For folks that spend the majority of their time in town, where almost everything is low end, gears are awesome.

honestly i heard a few people say that they prefer the 373s for cruising on the highway and stuff (rpm in relation to mph i guess) but I could see the obvious advantages to installing the 430.

Which cars came with the 430? Didnt a better portion of the na sport package cars have it?

Honestly i kinda shrugged it off after hearing those few opinions about it. Maybe you can point me in another direction though.

ALL the NAs came with 4.30 gears. They are a bit low if you do a lot of highway driving. I turn ~3500 rpm at ~75, with 275/40/17 rear tires. I also top out ~130ish at 6500, but can't really get much faster than that around here anyway. But as said before, in town, and for acceleration, they are great.

haha im glad to see my picture is still floating around.

Yeah i do a ton of highway driving and i think thats why i was turned off by the idea originally. At 80mph on 373 you are just a little over 3000rpm.

Stock tires... cant say i've topped my car out though haha so i cant give you that one.

I guess it's all a matter of preference.

this post is great.
so the mk4 rear calipers and rotors just bolt on? are they from the twin turbo or from the n/a mk4 supra?and do they give u a significant improvement in stopping power. also ive seen the contour fans in the supra the years that i have seen are the 1994-1995 dual electric fan
ford contour and mercury mistieque or whatever.

its not the exhaust cam. the intake cam is the one you want, if you even want it... from what i've read, it just plays with the powerband. lanky189 did it, and said he felt a difference. perhaps he'll chime in?

I come from a land down under
Ended up costing me 6K AUD just in parts and then there's a LOT of custom machine work to make it all fit!

Yeah I agree on the warped rotors thing!

Something I found was if I used a torque wrench on the wheel nuts it didn't do the warped rotor thing on stock brakes (Guys at the tire place thought I was out of my mind when I wouldn't let em use the rattle gun and pulled out a torque wrench)

ya, i torque mine every time i put my wheels on. that sucks about the price. you sure paid a hefty bit for those. i have some powerslot rotors and some new pads that should help a little. i never knew that those stockers could feel so scary. ill have to keep on lookin for another solution i guess...

I thought a few of the Vendors here were putting affordable BBK's together?
(MDC was one I think)

Yep I remember my first stop from 200+ KPH on stock brakes took about 5 minutes for my eyes to stop shaking!

The hardware for my setup was so damn expensive I can't imagine anyone wanting to pay that!

I don't really do Car work other than my own toy. :)
