i already checked and verified that neither injector 1 or 6 "clicks."
i didnt swap the actual injectors, but i swapped the clips of a working injector to the ones that werent working, and didnt feel the clicking

well i called RC up. they want me to send them back... they will cover any charges. although the rep that i talked to said that they should be installed within 4 weeks after i get them back and that may be the cause of my problems.
i am still gonna try to swap my ecu just for the hell of it. i just dont want to get a call from RC and hear my injectors are fine

I dont understand what the hold up is...if one clip is firing an injector but not another, its a dead freaking injector...simple as that...diagnosis complete...that is unless youre not %100 it didnt fire...

take your glove box out with the car running on 4 cyl. Push the connectors to the ECU in and see if you have any change. My 91 has a goofy issue with the harness ends at the ECU, 1 and 6 wont fire, so i had to take the glove box out and wiggle the plugs a touch and it cleaned up.

if you have an early mk3 86.5-88. check the resistor pack for the injectors. its on the drivers side fender. there are 3 resistors in the pack each one wired to 2 injectors. if one burns out 2 injectors go dead.
they are part of a grounding system so you would still show power.(12volts).

Just in case someone comes across this thread down the line, and is curious. I just want to point out a couple things:

1. All 7M-GTE's have an injector pack, not just 86-88's.

2. They are not on the grounding system.

3. They are connected to the +12V from the ignition switch to the resistor pack, then to the injectors. If you have voltage at the injector plug, the resistor pack probably isn't your problem.

4. The ground side of the injectors are connected directly to the ECU.

1 and 6 are companion cylinders, fired together by the ECM ground, as Jeff poited out.

You are not grounding the injectors. I doubt the ECU is at fault, or new injectors.

Touch the injector while it's running can you feel/hear it click?

Swap the injectors around does the issue follow them or stay on that cylinder?

This was something that should've been done. Companion cylinders if they were both bad then no start would absolutely occur.
