WOW.......this thread saddens me. On another note, at least the food was better at Steak and shake. I love me some boobies, but I can't eat Hoooter's greasy ass'd food.

I'm in, and I have a few thoughts.
I think a lot of supra owners want to come but there cars are maybe not "completed." I for one missed a lot of meets last year because my car had riped up seats. This is something I regret, missing events because my car had ugly seats. So if your car runs and will make the trip come on out, hang out it's not just about the cars. You will support the community by just showing your face.
And if any one wants to share a hotel room with me let me know I'll reserve it, and if you can't afford to share we can work something out.

I tell you, if someone is within driving distance to this meet in their Supra and I find out they don't make it because of torn up seats
or a CD player that skips their favorite Miley Cyrus song... I'm going Korean Kamikaze on somebody's face! To the point - BE THERE!!!

If it wasnt for the meets, I wouldnt go to WW. They tried to advertise on my site awhile back and I turned them down. Just for the fact that if your not in the autocross click or best buds with the people running the show, theres no way your car is getting in. Yeah, its a charity event, I run a relay for life team and theres plenty of local charity stuff I go to soley for it being for charity. I only come because its a supra meet.

Its a nice spot for a meet, but....
A. we have to pay to get in, not even a group discount
B. The only thing I actually watched was when they opened the 1/4 track to let spectators run. I would have been just as happy hanging out at a park or something.

Indy has all the potential of being as big or bigger than the chicago meets. Dont get me wrong, Jeff, you do an awesome job, I had a blast when I went.
I just think if you had more help you could do some marketing, get sponsors, etc.
You'd be surprised what people will do to get there company name out there. You wouldnt believe the sponsors we have for our car show and its MAYBE twice the turnout of a supra meet. Lucas oil gives us a shit ton of stuff, lots of companies give us cash or products to give away. Hell we even bought a busted up 1948 suburban and have done a complete off the frame restoration FOR FREE from places donating parts, services, etc.
www.relayforlifedreamteam.com

I think if you teamed up with a charity, it could be a national meet.
I'm by no means saying anything bad about the indy meets, there awesome for sure. Everybody keeps talking like they want it bigger, just giving some ideas. PM me if you want to tag team this bitch lol

*Raises hand in back of class* ummm. *Clears Horses throat*

Jeff, and fellow Supra peeps, First and foremost I want to thank ALL OF YOU for all you have done for us in the past, and on into the future in regards to this event!!! It has helped the ones who need it the most: Those kids at Riley Hospital who are attached to this hose, that machine, most of which, are here with us for a short time while they battle a dreadful adult disease. That is why, and for whom we do this event. When I look and see all the cars lining up at the gate on event day, it makes me smile, as we are ALL coming together for them on that day.

I was going to to let this post slide, but since I am in good with the "higher ups" with this event, I am entitled to tell it the way it is, right from the horses mouth.

This all started for me about 10 years ago, when I traded my services for a stuffed animal, so that I could bring it to the kids, so they had something to hold, to make them strong, when their parents weren't around to tuck them in at night at Riley. That simple exchange for a stuffed animal way back when, has evolved into what it is today.

My friends and I (Who have their hearts in the right place) started to get this organized, as we grew. NONE of us are a pro at any aspect of running an event like this, but collectively, we pull it off every year, and bring in more like us to help, as we grow. Our backrounds are as diverse as they come, but our hearts remain in the place it needs to be. We all put in TONS of hours, ALL VOLUNTEER TIME, and we all put in our own money where it's needed, without even expecting, nor recieving a penny back for our efforts.

We have backrounds in Autox/Drag Racing and Carshow to blend together, so we could better appreciate each aspect better. We open the racing/carshow/drag racing TO EVERYONE, and I am here to tell you, once the "Deep pocket" guys came down to race, I thought it was unfair for the deeper pockets to take trophies away for those who this event is made for: The Average Joes who love cars, and racing. Hence we added "Top Gun" class for them. This is a grass roots fun day of racing, whereas ANYONE can race, just toss your hat in the ring. There is no "Who you know" that gets you in, it boils down to, if you love to race, enter the carshow, and you want to pitch in to help the kids like we do, your IN!! It won't be any of this favoritism stuff played here at ALL!! It's not how we were founded, nor how we will operate in the future!!

Again, we aren't pros in running this, as I said, but this year, I feel the most confident that WWVI we will have the major lumps knocked down to have the best show yet!! Again, you guys have top dibs on where you want to park, so you are together, Jeff has my cell number, and we stay in touch, and will get you all together, wherever you want to park/show/race. I think we need more supra's in here also, and not sure why there arent more. EVERYONE has to do Autox/Drag/Slalom, and maybe most don't want to do all those events, instead would rather do drags?? We have opened up the strip for you guys also, as a "Thanks so much for joining us" as well. So anyway, you won't be disappointed coming out to join us, we have lots of fun, for little money. The kids smile from the hospital knowing we are doing this for them, this I know. I wont bore you with anymore on me, why, and stuff like this. Now, I got this out of my chest, and I would like to address supraman's take on the event for a second, then I will leave you alone. I didn't read anything past his post, so if there is anything said in a post along this vein, I hope I cleared it up in this post.

1. "If it wasnt for the meets, I wouldnt go to WW. They tried to advertise on my site awhile back and I turned them down." We tried to advertise with you?? Ahhh, that would be me that handled that department, and I don't recall that at all. But you know what? If you would like to advertise with us, www.wingedwarrior.org site, we would GLADLY post your event, as well as help you promote it year round!! I think that would bring these type events together, rather then ailenate one for another. Let me know supraman, I can start promoting it with links on our site whenever youre ready.

2. "Just for the fact that if your not in the autocross click or best buds with the people running the show, theres no way your car is getting in." I, as acting "Mayor McCheese" today, Do hereby declare, from THIS DAY FORWARD, EVERYONE with a pulse, is NOW an "Official" member of our "Autocross click" and our Best Buds!! So guess what? Now that means EVERYONE CAN GET IN to Winged Warrior VI!! (Not a new concept, as we don't play favoritism) Nobody has an excuse now. lol

3. Yeah, its a charity event, I run a relay for life team and theres plenty of local charity stuff I go to soley for it being for charity AWESOME!! I will be there for you this year, so will all the people I can drag out to go to it also!!

4. "I would have been just as happy hanging out at a park or something." No comment. LOL.

Supraman, you are probably a great guy, but I am taken aback abit that you said what you did in this post. You can knock our event, that's ok, I have nothing bad to say about you, but I think you need to adjust your heart a bit, so it is in line with what you do, and what you stand for. You will grow more then you can imagine!!! Im 46, and I am just now figuring out how life works, so Im not just talking out of my butt when I said all I just did, its from expierence/compassion and Drive!! I wouldn't like to be anywhere else in my life right now, and I am SOO thankful for people like our WW Board of Directors, volunteers, You Supra Peeps, and mostly Jeff over here for helping us do all we can for the kids.. See some of you in May. Supraman, I hope to see you there too, but if not, WE WILL see you at your event, to give you and your cause full support...

Thanks for witnessing the longest post evar!!

Kevin Butterfield.

Glad to have you pop in on Supramania, Kev! :icon_bigg
This is the first thing I mention when I speak on behalf of the Winged Warrior event.
Obviously, we all love attending car meets and organizations for that very reason - We're enthusiasts, love to have fun, and are passionate about it.
But knowing, with Winged Warrior, it's ALL about the kids and for a good cause that day... Just reassures me of where my heart truly sits.
Irrelevant to this thread, but 10 years ago, Riley saved my little sisters life, which was in serious threat.
I can't thank them enough for what they did, and what they do continuously, which is why I put my time and effort into volunteer and charity events today.

And while I'm here thinking about it,
I wanted to say thank YOU, Mr. Butterfield - For doing what you do.
I attended my first full event of WW in '06.... and I tell you, I've NEVER seen an event grow SO much over the course of 4+ years.
So, I just wanted to say thank you for sticking with it for so long while putting your heart into it, giving all of us a chance to have a weekend blast,
and reiterating to ALL OF US what Winged Warrior is truly all about. You the man!!!!

Did this have anything to do with the Indy meet Jeff? If it did I must have missed it. Is this where we're going during the meet?

It appears Mr.Butterfield is an educated man. Now I really hate him !

Jay - YES!! Absolutely! :) The core of this meet is based around Winged Warrior. I've mentioned it in the first post (but perhaps I'll add the event in the title as I did in '08/'09)
It seemed to work well. :)

LOL. No hate needed, I'm just like you, (But older) and education is just a piece of paper anyway.

Kevin, by ALL means, do not take Jay (suprahero) seriously in that post. He's as big of a goofball as many of us here are........
If it makes you feel any better...... he's probably about as old as you...... :biglaugh: Maybe, older.
He also claims to wear hats because he thinks he looks good in them, but I think it's to cover up the lack of hair on his noggin!

Just messing with you, Jay. I know you wouldn't have Vonda if you weren't such a good lookin' guy. :naughty:

Jay is probably a nice guy, but that post he made just rubbed me wrong, that's all. If were car guys, support other car guys and their events. UNLESS what he said he has good reason to believe it. (Which there are none). I just think its caddy to blow out someone elses candle, to let theirs shine brigther. (Dissin WW, and talking his event up). If we are both doing it for the right reasons, that stuff shoud have never been said. Enough on that from me.

Wow Mr. Butterfield......you may be a car guy, but you're definately not a Tombstone fan. It's only one of the greatest movies ever...........not knowing about Doc Holiday makes little baby Jesus cry.

Jeff, you know I are one sexy beast.............:naughty:
