I think your mechanics first instinct was correct. Fuel pump. And yes, a fuel pump will sometimes work intermittently (although not well) when it's on it's way out. Get an inline fuel pressure gauge and check the line pressure, I bet that's the culprit.

when my fuel pump went in my grand am, it would start, idle for a seconnd, die. did this over and over and over.

my fuel pump was going in my VW, would only run if it was 60 out, or cooler.

My pump is going in my bronco, when it gets hot its hard to start

It's your wireing harness. A few broken or about to be broken wires, causing intermitent problem. You took the ecu off and put it back on. Now nothing happens. Your harness probably broke a wire (or some) and now nothing works.

Just my thought... :bigthumb:

Now send me my compensation... :evil2:

Verify fuel (check the pressure, and verify injectors are getting a signal vai noid lights)

Verify spark (check the plugs and use a spark plug tester)

You have plenty of air around, and the timing hasn't been changed, correct?

If your ECU isn't working, you shouldn't have any fuel injectors getting pulsed NOR any spark.

But all of this aside, maybe i can add a little more information to this. For the whole time i had the car it had a little problem that i didn't really notice until i went WOT. It would jitter a lot in boost. Its almost as if it wanted to go, but it wouldn't. Now could this possibly a fuel related problem then? Im still waiting for my ecu to come back from driftmotion, but i MUST know of any possibilities in the meantime as my mechanic is definately frustrated and getting pissed of cause its just sitting there... LET ME KNOW thanks!

could possibly be crank sensor, sounds exactly like what my friends neon was doing, took it to autozone and they hooked up there scanners and that was it, i installed it for him and no more starting problems or running problems like you described, his dad also thought it was the fuel pump but it was getting fuel.

Update.. I have signal from crank sensor and cam sensor. I got spark , power to injectors but i have no ground signal from the ecu to injectors. What is the problem? I already had the ecu recapped (repaired) ... Any help would be appreciated thanks! (The strange thing is that it ran for over 1 hr today.. very smooth and no problems.. then died, couldn't start it back up for more than 1 second after this) ?!?
