Guys...it is very simply,at least for me.
I would have bought my mk3 supra even if the 7M-GTE was pushing
120 ponnies!!! It is so simple, the mk3 even if it is parked or stand still on
the road, still looks that the car is moving

The car has STYLE,GRACE,HISTORY,NAME(supra is a legend all over the world),DISCENT POWER,INCREDIBLE POWERPLANT POTENTIALS,HIGH TECH,
POWER EQUIPMENT,INCREDIBLE STANCE ON THE ROAD,AND,AND,AND....

And Yes,it is a head turner where ever you go,especially if it has some
exterior goodies on it!

There is no 2nd choise...
Name one car of the 80's to ride in the year 2007 and have all the above
goodies on a cheap price tag!

Even a 996 Porsche turbo's driver kept looking to my car,as it was
something exotic with a retail price of $ 90.000 when I was waiting on stop light some time ago :icon_surp

The most important thing is: Keep the mk3 as clean as possible,& add a
nice distinctive look with some nice 5 star wheels, like it was from the factory!

For me the mk3 is a complex, high tech, heavylly equipted car that has
come back from the FUTURE :icon_bigg

I feel you also. my friend marc has a Skyline and a fully converted sil-eighty my other friend mikey has a FD and a brand new G35. Most of my friends are From Whidbey Naval Air station and have more free money then I do so cannot compete. On the other hand My wife has a 06 Altima and We own a 250,000 House . Yesterday we where putting 800cc injectors in the FD and this hillbilly S.O.B asked who owned the other R-X7 . Marc said " you fucking retart thats a supra" then continued to tell him that seeing my car was rarer the seeing his GTR .It being a 1992 I know of 4 in Washington state . Their are three Skylines in this area A 32, 33 and a 32 gtst and just one 92 supra. So my point is you have a great car that real car guys like and respect . to cure you blues maybe you can go get a nice 96 sc300 0r 400 they are around 10,000 with a decent down payment your payments should be under 200 a month

Interesting thread here.

I could pretty much drive what I wanted for 30k or less and I still choose the supra. I like the mk4s just as much as the mk3s. I just had a g35 speed

which is a great ride. My titan is great also. I still love the supra though.

let's see...

climate control - completely unheard of in the price segment back then, and even now it's barely getting into the lower end cars

full power seat - HA, not any new car under 20K is gonna have all the features

stereo system - some people bitch whine and complain about it not having enough base, there was an optional subwoofer for the supra (rare), but listen to some classical music or piano through the stock stereo and you'll realize just how good it is..

Fully independant front and rear suspension - sure, there are other cars, but they're not double wishbone designs, and if they do, they're very pricey (even today)

Styling - 89 especially here, the taillights are great design elements, the fender flares, hell even the mud flaps, it's very refined. Hell, had an LED 3rd brake light. Don't get me started on targa tops, best day I've had recently was taking the tp off and crusing home from work, see and elise with the top off, and then an older ferrari with his targa off. I was the cheapest of the bunch, and still got looks from the others.

Too many points to cover, but for the price, the MKIII supra is probably the best bargain out there for a performance car. Minus the rodknock and HG issues, there isn't too many other MAJOR issues that hamper them from making good power in BPU form and not breaking anything (ask a DSM guy about that). They handle, accelerate, and brake very well of their age (just don't ask em to brake that hard for too long).

I've taken a lot of time going over my car finding the little annoying things, like the shakes, rattles, and squeeks (though some new ones have shown up recently, grrrr), and that will help a LOT in making the car nicer. Most old unibody cars do NOT fair this well (old vettes are notorious for their chassis going limp with age and miles).

I fixed it up just a bit, but pretty much yeah, put the MKIII in a movie and watch the prices go up like hell.

yeah, but it might save some from the crusher...

might also force the aftermarket companies to start remaking thing for us, HKS used to make tons of stuff for us, and now they don't make jack...
