let's see...
climate control - completely unheard of in the price segment back then, and even now it's barely getting into the lower end cars
full power seat - HA, not any new car under 20K is gonna have all the features
stereo system - some people bitch whine and complain about it not having enough base, there was an optional subwoofer for the supra (rare), but listen to some classical music or piano through the stock stereo and you'll realize just how good it is..
Fully independant front and rear suspension - sure, there are other cars, but they're not double wishbone designs, and if they do, they're very pricey (even today)
Styling - 89 especially here, the taillights are great design elements, the fender flares, hell even the mud flaps, it's very refined. Hell, had an LED 3rd brake light. Don't get me started on targa tops, best day I've had recently was taking the tp off and crusing home from work, see and elise with the top off, and then an older ferrari with his targa off. I was the cheapest of the bunch, and still got looks from the others.
Too many points to cover, but for the price, the MKIII supra is probably the best bargain out there for a performance car. Minus the rodknock and HG issues, there isn't too many other MAJOR issues that hamper them from making good power in BPU form and not breaking anything (ask a DSM guy about that). They handle, accelerate, and brake very well of their age (just don't ask em to brake that hard for too long).
I've taken a lot of time going over my car finding the little annoying things, like the shakes, rattles, and squeeks (though some new ones have shown up recently, grrrr), and that will help a LOT in making the car nicer. Most old unibody cars do NOT fair this well (old vettes are notorious for their chassis going limp with age and miles).
