Sit in a new BMW/BENZ/LEXUS or even some non luxury vehicles.....over 20 years, interior design and materials have improved greatly. Things are just pieces together better now a days like the dash and many items all around. Theres nothing wrong with a clean MK3 interior, but its just dated. Going from a new luxury car to the mk3, no matter how clean it is, you can feel its age.

One thing I can say tho is that I prefer the mk3 interor/dash/console over a mk4.

This guy, is just stating that he is in and out and around many new luxury vehicles and it makes him think about his car when he gets in it at the end of the day. I would too....many of my friends have very nice cars and I love being in them but it doesnt force me to think that I need one or want one.

dunno where you get this from, put in a few gadgets into the mid dash area, and it will feel like 2010. all the new cars I sit in just dont feel right. The MKIII has a drivers area like a jet aircraft. it feels like it was made for you.

if you think a mk3 is bad after driving one of those, hop in virtually any re-built car from the 60's-70's and you will have a new appreciation of the supra. The reason so many things feel different is because it is a 20 year old car with 20 year old parts! I've had 2 '89s, one with 160k kms and one with 250k kms, and driving the two was a night and day difference. I'm completely restoring the one with 250k and the driving experience will probably compare (at least somewhat) to a new(er) car. Face it, some of our cars feel like shit because they are old and beaten on.

Please, please, please think twice. After driving a Supra for so long you are not going to be happy driving a "Z" (I drive them every day). Take a look at the Saturn Skye Redline and let me know what ya think.

As I said I'm not too serious about them at this point. I admit to liking the styling but that's about it so far. There's others out there I'm looking at. Vettes for example. I'm probably too cheap to buy one though and I'd prefer to avoid the stigma that comes with driving it even though I've been a performance guy most of my life. I recently borrowed a friends S2000 for a day and became somewhat smitten with it. You can bet whatever I end up with will have serious research done beforehand. That said the next one doesn't have to last 20 years because I'll be retiring abroad and can't take it with me.

edit: That Saturn looks nice alright. Trouble is it's a Pontiac in disguise. Even it weren't it'd take some doing to convince me to buy American again, especially something from the General.

if you want a new car then buy one. doesnt mean you have to get rid of the supra. I bought 2 new cars last year (x-runner and corolla S) and still enjoy driving my supra more.

Well, that would work except I own other cars. Everything from classics to other family cars and motorcycles. I have only so much room. I pay enough to the state and insurance scumbags to keep them all as it is. Besides, the Supra has served it purpose and there are better cars out there. After 20 years I'm not all that attached to it.

Still... What else is out there with rear drive and intercooled turbo? And if the engine is based on GM's "I" series they came out with a couple of years ago with twin cams, counterbalance shaft and variable valve timing it should be a little rocket.

Oh, so now I'm old? One foot in the grave? Gracias amigo ;)

Nah, not my style. Besides, man does not live by performance alone. If that were the case I'd buy an Ariel Atom and go out in a blaze of glory ;)
heh i never said that you were old, it just wont impress your older friends ;)

Funny thing is I don't have a lot of older friends. I could count on one hand those older than me. Most are much younger, especially the women. In fact I have a little business on the side that involves being around beautiful young women all the time. It's a tough job but someone has to do it. Good thing my wife is also involved or I'd get myself in big trouble fast.

I deal with young guys all the time. Also have a few young friends from this forum. Unfortunately they've been sworn to silence. I don't want it to get around what a nice guy I am. I have a reputation to protect ;)

the Solstice/Sky wasn't developed by GM... IIRC the Sky was made as a front engine/RWD version of the Elise. IIRC GM bought the rights to make it here (it was released as another car in europe, can't remember it's name...)

The ecotec engine ahs bee found to be VERY stout, and I believe that's what they used in them. The tranny is an R150 derivitive as well (yet not as notchy as the supre version). It's about the only front engine/RWD car with a turbo these days... That and the Sky's styling is neat...
