I'm sick of old cars

Well I have recently aquired a job at the worlds largest auto auction ( manhiem, PA, USA) and have been driving , well let's just say the MKIII is no SL65 AMG nor will it ever be i understand that. But at the same time after working a full 10hr shift, i get a bit depressed getting into the ol' supra. it seems unstable in it's power delivery and just general appeal. I mean i love the look of the supra's... all years. but i guess i am looking to make the old 87 look and feel more like an 07 know what i mean??? I've even been contimplating buying a MKIV ( i feel bad about this because i love the older autos as no one evn cares about them any more) so give me some pep talks to get my @$$ in gear to get things done.

i help out my cuzin at his used car dealer ship.... and i know what u mean...

he cheers me up when he tells me that my sup is what brings his customers in and ask him about it... especially after its just been washed.

nothing compares to the mkiii. She simply beautiful!!! even when some people have her all modded up... she still has the look of a shark... the long beautiful nose... and the sweeping back.... sexy:love: ... or am i wrong?

most of the beautiful classics have the long nose??? and have the sweeping back?

maybe the mkiiis arent considered classic cuz its a jap car? had she been american or european... ???? :nono:

working at the auction... arent the american/eurpean cars all the expensive ones???

I could sit around all day and look at pics of MkIV supras and their sexy body kits and super wide tires. Some other new cars appeal to me, and by the end of the day, I do feel a little under the weather about driving a 1989...

But then I get back to the train station and there she is, waiting, elegant yet dangerous, like a panther ready to pounce. Her long, sweeping front end, the gentle yet prominently wide fenders; concealing the true girth of her rubber, her white paint reflecting the blue sky just a little bit. I get in and turn the key, and smile as she fires right up, ready to rock my socks off. I take it easy for a bit, and make sure she's warm before I put the spurs to her, but when I do... baby jesus cries a little.

The jackrabbit 3rd gear passes on the highway of 100kph to 140kph in the time it takes to change lanes, is incredible. She dominates the highway... because when all is said and done, 98% of every other vehicle on the road is just transportation.

I know how this feels. At university and everywhere else, everyone calls me "el del Supra" (the one with the Supra, cuz my name is SOOO hard to remember, pfft).

Anyhow, whenever someon asks me what I drive, I tell them, "well, the daily driver is a 98 Corolla and the weekend, fun project car is a Supra.". And they all ask the same thing, "the one from F&F?"

No.... I got the third generation, not the fourth generation and stop calling it the F&F Supra.

Then they give me the most disappointed look. This is all also possible due to all the media hypes since Fast and the Furious. I blame those damn movies.

Too true. Make it better for less as well.

Amen to that, and considering the age of the mark 3, its not exactly a common car. I see more corvettes and other high priced cars on the roads than I do Mark 3s

I look at this way this 20 year old car can still run with the majority of the newer sports car out there and STILL turns heads and wonder "is that a corvette"?

You say you don't like "old" cars but you are wanting a MkIV? Hate to burst your bubble but the MkIV IS an "old" car.

What don't you like about "old" cars?

Is it the Maintenance? I'm sure you'll find that the good "old" MkIVs also have their fair share of maintenance issues depending on how well it was cared for by the previous owner(s). We're starting to see more and more ragged out MkIVs. The ones that are well maintained are still out of reach.

Just curious. Which costed more back then, a supra, or a corvette?

Fwiw the sticker (I'm looking at it) on my car was $25,217.41, bought new in Los Angeles in June 1987. That was the total. The MSRP was $23,810.00. Since I paid cash and didn't let them jerk me around I got it for less. I know the price went up for later model years. I'm guessing Vettes were more at the time but I'm not 100% sure.

I was thinking they were fairly close... IIRC around '91 or '92 the cost of the supra was around 30K, your price makes sense compared to the changes that were made, and possible inflation over the 4-5 years.

Most of my friends are From Whidbey Naval Air station and have more free money then I do so cannot compete. On the other hand My wife has a 06 Altima and We own a 250,000 House . Yesterday we where putting 800cc injectors in the FD and this hillbilly S.O.B asked who owned the other R-X7 . Marc said " you fucking retart thats a supra" then continued to tell him that seeing my car was rarer the seeing his GTR .It being a 1992 I know of 4 in Washington state . Their are three Skylines in this area A 32, 33 and a 32 gtst and just one 92 supra. So my point is you have a great car that real car guys like and respect . to cure you blues maybe you can go get a nice 96 sc300 0r 400 they are around 10,000 with a decent down payment your payments should be under 200 a month
