Ive been on tylenol PM and simple sleep for like 5 years now. I cant sleep without them during the week, on the weekend I can crash right out. I work odd hours but it really sucks when you Know you have to sleep but cant.

I bounce from sleeping pills to caffeine every day.

Kyle - If it sucks, maybe get a little help?

Know a joke when you see one.

I think everyone here saw the South Park quote reference.

Nice try though.

A guy at my at my work didn't sleep for 4 days straight. He has major sleeping problems and is on either 4 or 5 different medications now. He told me he thought he was going to die by that last night.

Simple solution, and it will sort a lot out...............................ALCOHOL

1. It's legal
2. It will make you sleep
3. It will take the place of the high

Problems solved............and nobody ever saw anything good about alcohol??

Solution #2

Drink Red Bull (or other energy drink) early in the evening. You'll be pumped up for a little while, then the crash will help you sleep.

Solution #3

Quit signing onto Supramania.

1. This will limit the bulshit spewing of the brain, and allow boredom to set in. Use this method last, because the boredom could encourage more drug use

Yeah I've done 4 nights. It was on purpose though; I could have fallen asleep at any time, lol.

Yeah, you start to see stuff. The brain NEEDS REM sleep.
i don't think REM sleep is totally necessary (not sure about in humans), they did a test on some cats where they would let them sleep for like 15 minutes, just before they entered REM; then they were forced to wake up and move to the end of this moving platform or they'd fall into water. so they repeated this like all night, they were not sleep deprived; only REM deprived, but they still functioned normally IIRC

sorry just a random thing i learned in psychology

If you wake up and don't feel refreshed they say your not reaching R.E.M sleep or at least not in it long enough during a night's sleep.

I've seen the tests the military did... it wasn't pretty.

The body is physically able to go on, but the mind can't control the body well enough, and you make stupid mistakes. One of the guys in the test broke his ankle in the obsticle course when it was really simple...

Also, there is speculation that you are insane in your dreams so you can be sane while you're awake. There have been some bad episodes where the brain didn't paralyse the body and the person acted out there dream while asleep...

Sleep is still not 100% understodd, but in the end if you stay up long enough you WILL die. Not kidding. DEATH.

Do you know much about how long it is before death is probable? From simply sleep deprivation though, not being stupid and shooting yourself in the face trying to clean a loaded gun or something like that... just from sittin there and slippin away or however it goes about....

You mention the tests, did you actually witness them yourself? i'd be interested to hear more about what went on besides the broken ankle dude... or the stuff people did without being paralyzed. That's the chemical released into your body that makes it difficult to make a fist, right? Its been a while since I was lectured on that...talked about it in a science class once.

Why did you do that?? what was it like? Sleep has been one thing that i've wondered about a lot and it interests me. I read that there was a study done that proved sleep deprivation has the same effect on the brain as being drunk. Which is most probably the same things poodle was describing...doing stupid stuff.
It's one of my excuses not to get drunk, since i don't drink. Not my reason not to...but an excuse as why I dont. :naughty: :biglaugh:

well... when i drove for 32 hours straight; i didn't sleep the night before on the flight; or on the bus ride to the city... so that's 4 days straight... and by the time I hit montana... 3 1/2 days.. I was hallucinating big time.

I thought I was in a video game racing (gran turismo style) and all of the cars that were around me were my competition and I had to beat them... I beat a volkswagon Phaton(sp)? Well, I beat them all.. But at one point I thought they(the game) had reset me and put me back @ the start of the level; because all of the mountains looked the same....

I made it home though... 13 hours later... and slept for 3 days.

Im contemplating sleeping every other night just to see what happens. I fucked up my sleep schedule so I stayed up all night thursday after waking up at 4pm and fell asleep around 730 friday night and woke up 2 hours later. I ended up staying up all night again until I made myself go to sleep at 9. Woke up at 5pm though, so looks like Ill be staying up all night again.

I believe you will start to feel more stressed, your life will depress in more ways than one, but slowly enough that you will not notice until someone says something; and to top it off you will get sick more often because your immune system will be on the fritz.

good luck with that:biglaugh: but seriously though, with personal experiance, word of mouth, and especially in light of the posts in this thread, it's not good for you I would suggest you don't do it.
