Is it worth it for my N/A? I plan on going NA-T or GTE sometime within this next year or 2, but aside from that, is this system worth ANYTHING on my car now? What are the gains I will see?

Personally, if I were going to invest in a piggyback and was planning on possibly going N/A-T I'd look into something which offered more than just fuel control... oh, wait. :evil2:

As robbo185 said, any gains from tuning alone will be minimal.

^^^yup, not to mention it'll give you a few things you can use right away for more than just fuel. Such as timing control and a less restrictive metering system.

Depends, you want to go with a disgustingly large MAF or go MAP? Both are comparable. The MAFT Pro is $399. The sensors you can either buy new or go hunting at a salvage yard. Going with either MAF or MAP is around $100 if you buy new parts... j/y parts will be cheaper, of course. You can get everything you need from Dr. Jonez or fullthrottle.

If you go with a 3.5" MAF make sure your intake piping is at least 3"ID otherwise the MAF will be reporting that there's a lot more air coming in than there is as the outer area won't really see much flow.

See my writeup in the N/A section for more details: http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?t=35302

There's a lot of info on here regarding speed density.

As for the differences: Going with a MAF is a bit easier to setup and still a lot less restrictive than the stock system. A speed/density setup does take some tweaking but eliminates any restriction caused by flow sensors which sit in the path of incoming air. Both are popular and both will still work when you add a turbo to the mix. The 3.5" LS-1 MAF creates very little restriction so that's what I opted for since I had to get my car back up and running ASAP.

I still may try a MAP (aka speed/density or Mass Air Pressure) setup down the road, but I'm told I really shouldn't see any difference.

so with the MAF option I replace the big ol 7m AFM with another such as the Lexus AFM? sorry Im really REALLY new to THIS section of modification lol

Will that much more airflow account for any significant increase in my engines performace and power?

You should be able to switch to a Lexus or MKIII GTE's AFM (I'm not positive, but I don't see why not) although there are better flowing options with the MAFT Pro.

I still haven't had the time or money to dyno my car and see where it's at. There's definitely a difference.

Even for an N/A huh, hrmm... so I can just get rid of the AFM entirely and just have a straightpipe with air filter huh.......intersting, very intersting... I like

That's pretty much what speed density is. There are two sensors used in that setup, IAT and MAP. The IAT is installed in the intake piping and the MAP sensors is fed with a vacuum line.

Im a little familiar with the set up, my firebird had an IAT sensor and map sensor. Been ages though, Id really like the increased airflow. I think that along with new clutch, alum flywheel and alum driveshaft Ill be getting the throttle response I want, bc right now its getting to me.

Responsiveness, yes. Increased power... some. Is it worth the expense for just an extra 20HP (probably less), not to most.

ah I see I see, well Ill keep an eye on it. If I do decide to go with it, how difficult is it to tune and learn to use it? Im an extremely quick learner, but just wondering.
