:( I don't know what to do. I have a week to get my car finished or I won't have a car to get to class, which is very bad to say the least. I got the car to fire up for a split second, after about 50 tries, and had to hold it at like half throttle to get it to stay running for about 5 seconds. It was running EXTREMELY bad, horribly misfire and just sounded weird.

Just saw something recently about someone else's woes with sputter. They had to gap their plugs down to .025-.028... I currently have mine at about .032. Too late to do anything tonight (just getting home from work). I'll swap 'em out with re-gapped ones tomorrow and see.

Dang Jon... Dunno what we can try, but I will make time to come out Saturday and bring the ECUs (not necessarily good tho), as well as spare TPSs and couple of IACs (1 not good the other not sure about). Also have a spare ignitor...

I pulled the harness out and redid everything. Got most everything back in again then broke the knock sensor connector (second time this has happened) I need to go tomorrow and find another one. I changed out the cam position sensors while I was at it, and I'm hoping maybe that was the cause. When I pulled off the connector there was a lot of oil puddled up in the leads and I hear that can cause issues.

My plugs are gapped at .028 right now, so that shouldn't be an issue. Elvis I'll let you know tomorrow night where I stand, as I should have a chance to fire it up for the first time with the redone harness and new sensors tomorrow.

Put some ~.025ish gapped plugs in and runs MUCH better. Still a slighter sputter, but probably related to the open exhaust. Took it for a "maiden" voyage. Only a couple of miles but was able to hit 65, fill up the tank, and make sure blinkers/lights did their jobs.

Gonna have to finish some more up tomorrow, then drive up to J's in Little Elm as another drive-ability test. Still idles just under 1K, so I'll have to play with the throttle set-screw thing and re-adjust the TPS (J has an analog multimeter deal, so we'll take of it when I see him ;-).

Let me know whatever... would love to help get some local JZs out to Houston next year.

It runs! And I replaced so many things I don't know what fixed it!

Only problems now are: There is a slight whine, sounds like the serpentine belt is rubbing against the crank pulley or something, cant tell but didn't look too much into it as I was getting bit by bugs and I am happy enough for the night.

My injectors sound ridiculously loud, don't know what the deal is here, just TICK TICK TICK TICK TICK.

It breaks up under decent acceleration (probably around 45% up to 3000rpm), wideband is showing it going lean, not rich. Don't know if that is tuning or tps or whatever.

That's all I notice from my brief drive, I'm idling at around 710 rpm, absolutely no leaks so far. I need to get it aligned more than anything, I can barely drive it (swapped out subframe) so that will be high up on my priorities list as of now.

Thanks a lot for offering the help Elvis, I don't think there is a community better than ours out there. As of now I think I'm good to go. If you ever need any help don't be afraid to give me a call!

Apparently the battle is not over. It gave me 5 minutes of driving before it decided to start running like shit.

Tomorrow I think Ben is gonna come over with his timing light, we'll get to the bottom of it some how or another.

I'm throwing a code which I'm unable to retrieve, jumping the te-1 and e-1 is doing nothing, I haven't figured out why yet :(

Try it at the ECU. I somehow removed/cut the wong wire at the diag box (being a bit hasty) and ended up installing a switch at the ECU (for now) to toggle into diag mode, from inside the cabin.

Once everything's kewl, I'll move it to a more convenient place when the ECU is hidden.

I have lots to get done tomorrow and Sunday (avoiding the heat of the day), but let us know whatever and I'll see what we can do to get out and help (U 2 Datsrboi... what do U have left?).

FYI... I also have a good A/C manifold gauge set that shows vacuum, etc. Don't go buying one... It's one of those things you only use once-in-a-great-while.

Just to make sure I'm understanding this right... Since E1 (X-24) is just a ground, can I just T off of the TE1 wire (W-7) and ground it to one of the bolts by the ecu to get it to show me the codes?

Got my exhaust closed up. Wasn't specific enough about them replacing a section, so they used part of the smaller 2.5" pipe I had jerryrigged in place and added some 3". Will have to go back later for them to fix. Alignment gets done tomorrow.

Was fun gettin' out on the highway, but could be funner... still having some issues getting over 3K RPM without some breaking up.

Probably gonna have to change/replace things around like you did, Jon. I'm all out of ideas.

Ok, my problem was the ECU. After countless hours of working on the car and literally changing out every sensor with a good one... we figured it out. Chris (angrydrone) came over and we threw in his ecu and the car runs like a dream, timing was dead on where it was supposed to be, idle was perfect, it was great. It sucks that I have two dead ecu's, but at least I finally know what the problem is. And I got to enjoy driving it finally.

dont forget to mention the 7 hours of work in 102 degree heat

Ah yes, Ben and I almost died from working the whole day doing random shit to the car hoping it would work. Its hot as hell here and we didn't have any drinks, so 7 hours of work in 100+ degree heat on only 1 icee from 7-11.

I've been avoiding the daytime, like a vampire lately. Glad that you got it figured out and glad that there weren't any heat strokes.

Gonna play around with switching my ECU as well (again). Need to make a call and see if I can borow another known-good one as well.

CONGRATS!!
