Yep, Im done for now. Ive dumped pretty much all the money Ive made for the last 4 months into rebuilding my stock GE for my mom. Ive put countless hours into making it nice and for what? I finally get it started at 2am and BAM! OMGWTFRODKNOKZ!!1!1

Anyways Im pissed cause I spent so much time & money into making my mom a nice car (so she can stop driving the embarassing POS shes in now), get it all together, and now I get to tear it back down.

To make things better I dumped over $250 yesterday on oil, plugs and everything else to get it ready for the road.

I think Im just gonna part it out and buy JDM.

Anyone got a 1JZ lol.

very confusing thread..

so your giving your mom your car or have a second?

yeah it can definitly suck spending alot of money into these things..

i blew my hg just recently, and i tottled out around 8-900 after head was rebuilt, oil's and head gasket (titain) and a gasket kit..

definitly not cheap, but also shimed my pump and changed the timming belt.. put new o-rings on the injectors.

and just as i get my car back on the road, my brother picks one up, (who i owe money to) and the motor has a good solid case of rod knock, since i dont want to be back into this motor, it's getting balanced and new pistons, bearings in hole motor, and either a new pump or a thick shim..

any who, these car's are money pits. i think we have all hit the ditch in that area..

true, there seems to be a lot of problems with 7m's.. I believe its not the motor, but more the community in my opinion. Lets be honest, we are cheap as hell and like to save money.. take short cuts, buy cheap parts, and go to places to get them machined for cheap.

I'm sure if every thing was done correctly we wouldn't have near the problems. If my motor blew again upgrading to a 2jz wouldn't just be giving up in my opinion, but upgrading parts I would have to invest onto a 7m, like a higher flowing head, ffim, cleaner engine bay, and a massive aftermarket inventry to buy from.

7m is in 95% of the supras out there because it came with that motor. It doesn't make the 1j better in reliability. People that do the swap would usually take car of their motor. Supras with 7ms are everywhere and more likely to be just driven into the ground.

That is all

Did you rebuild the bottom end? Was it knocking before you started all this work? I am confused!

Rod knock doesn't happen with the car parked in the garage, unless, you have a crankcase full of coolant from a BHG corroding the bearings.

Sucks to hear! I know the feeling. This is not a case of the ''7m is shitty'' I would look to personal error. Some of your tolerances must have been improper. Good luck getting it back up though.

Ive got another Supra that I was planning a GTE swap for, but now I think im just gonna sell it and put the GTE into my moms car.

GotToyota: Ive only made about 1K in the past four months and more than half has been used to pay bills and living expenses. Im a college student and I can only work part time for now.
