I really dont want some stupid remarks, ,,,


I have like $ 160.00 in best buy certificates from the my rewards program... so...
I'm all about the 60 GIG I-POD , mainy cause of the 60 GIG,
now I wouldnt mind having one, but i've been trying to do some research and read all I can about them, and I've read some mixzd reviews.
some good, some bad,
obviously, 60 gigers run about 400 then minus my 160.00 cirtificates ,

so even still, $240 out of my pocket is alot for me to blow when I'm hearing about 50 % of bad reviews.,

are they really that bad ?
please all , dont hate on it, or bask it, just honest opinions....

yes, I know that its so known , cause if how much apple spends to advertise it, and its the most recognized an known, but is it that good , or bad ?

my cirtificates expire may 13th, so its either a ipod, or that 37 inch flat screan/flat planel tv, for my bedroon,, for about 2K ??????

Am really impressed with mine!

I bought an adaptor so I can plug it into the big TV and the vid quality is brilliant.

Works perfect in the car with the Pioneer Interface.

I know you speak so highly of them, that like that,
but I just don;t understand how or why so many others claim they are crap and that they break.. etc,,,

I just don't wanna spend that kind of money on one if there going to break or something like that ...

i've got a 60G video, and have never had any problems. The thing works perfect for me. I don't know if maybe people are having problems because they run Windows machines? I've got all Macintosh computers.
Apple also has given the battery better life, which was a major complaint with previous generations. Although, I've never had a major battery problem with my older iPods. Also, with the link that IJ posted on failures, it appears most were batteries and HDDs dying. I recently bought a 1G mini off ebay, which had a dead HDD when I received it. It had major damage to the body, which looks like it was dropped out of a moving car. With HDD replaced, it works perfectly now. I don't see how else a HDD would crash.
So, IMO I like using an iPod more than any other mp3 player because of its simple user-interface and integration with iTunes. Yes, they probably cost more than they should. But, there's an extremely higher variety for aftermarket products for iPods.

One thing youd probably want to do is invest in charging equipment like a docking station. They suck the charge right out of their little battery.

ive got a 60gig and it hasnt been anything but good for me, i watch lectures on it from classes listen to music, even edit files on it,( you can put a word proccessor on it, its just been a cool little device

They have advanced alot since the earlier i-pods, they used to have problems with battery life as the unit got older, like all new things tho, the first productions usually have some issues, i say get it, youll like it

I'd get a Nano if you just want it for music. I've got all the good songs of my 200 CD or so library on it with room to spare. My GF has the bigger Ipod and its just plain bulkier. The thing I don't on the Ipod is playing them in the car just sucks unless you have an aux input on the stereo. You can either spend the 100-200+ for the interface box or use the $40 radio adapter to listen to your Ipod in scratchy AM quality sound. Not to mention they kill you in accessory costs.

i have the 30gig video ipod and i like it. one thing is that it tends to lock up if the encoding of a certain file is a little weird. something that will play fine on the computer might crash my ipod.

one OTHER complaint is that apple hasnt released ANY software to use the ipod on linux. ive found a few good programs that work but only about 75 percent of the time.....so tired of my system locking up (which NEVER happens..apps crash like firefox once in a while if i have too many tabs open, but nothing ever brings the whole system down...the ipod will) i gave in and started using itunes on my dads computer.

well what did i learn from that? its just as unstable on a windows machine.

one excuse for that is that its very hard to test your product on EVERY hardware platform, except when youre apple and have nearly unlimited resources.

so with the software its useable, but when apple released OSX they said they would be all about helping the open source community, so where is my killer itunes app to use my ipod on my linux system?

other than that i have about 5 gigs of music in my collection and it all fits on my ipod which is pretty cool. i only ever use it in the car with a "roadtrip" adapter.

that works well but the reception isnt great, probably because the anntenae is at the rear of the car, im sure if i remove some of the sheilding behind the radio itll come in clearer. we shall see.

Couldn't you have used generic 3/8 to Rca cables to connect to a TV? I read it on ipodhacks, you just have to reverse the red and white wires and something else.

The ipod video is a good value considering how slim it is. The small screen is a good compromise for portability.

I got my 60 Giger,, and I really like it,

although, the directions are pretty basic which is cool, but it doesnt tell me how to delete a song ,, after I import it from my itunes player ????
