utilities i have used under linux (cant find any from apple..) allow you to remove individual files from your ipod, as well as copy mp3s from your ipod to your computer.

but, as ive stated earlier ive found my system to become unstable while using these utilities. maybe its just my specific hardware that is causing the problem.

Create a playlist in Itunes with every song except the ones you don't want. Go into the ipod preferences and have it update from the playlist instead of the library.

On another note; I've owned 5 ipods. The first was one of the original 1000 made; $499 for 5 GB's. I have never had a battery problem with any of them. I had a hard drive freeze once, so I took the ipod apart and started throwing parts across the room cause I was so pissed off. The ipod worked fine when I got the whole thing back together. people dont like ipod's for the same reason they dont like apple computers; They're just not used to them.
