inherant design...

an inline engine (especially a six considering it's a "perfect engine because all the vibrations cancel eachother) is far stronger than any V configuration...

A V8 has 5 crank Mains, we have 7. A V6 has only 4. Not to mention the odd forces when you have 2 connecting rods right beside eachother, and on a 6 the center one is a bit...odd

The 7M is a great engine in it's own right, it just fails from lack of maintenance, an odd oiling system, and damn headgaskets... All the other inline sixes share the same strengths, and if you're really into it, BMW's are HORRIBLY powerful as well...

I have to give the 300ZX some respect, I have a feeling he didn't do the work himself, which brings him down a bit, but the 300ZX is a NIGHTMARE to work on...

to do ANYTHING to that damn car...

Step 1: disconnect battery
Step 2: remove engine

Right, i6 engines are balanced better than any v configuration. But regardless, it doesn't take away the fact that a v configuration can still be very reliable and yield high hp numbers. Also, it is a pita to work on. For instance, if you want to change the turbos the motor has to come out :(

not hating on the V style as it's GREAT for getting a larger engine into a smaller package...

but an inline engine will ALWAYS be more durable than a V style...

Not to mention, most if not all v style are conflict engines. It obviously doesn't make our engines bullet proof, but one less problem we have to worry about.

HATE the new GTR, they totally fucked the design from the prototype...

now it looks EXACLTY like a damn Eclipse from the front.

Sad that that car is going to get raped by the ZO6 not to mention the Supras out there...

ok uhhmm.....they all uh....yeah.
i'm not the only one seeing it look like an evo too am I?
oh and i'm not the only one who thinks the 1st and 2nd are not so pretty and butt uuuuuglyy (respectively) am I?

heh...the skyline as the nose of an evo, the slope and roundness (up front) of the eclipse, and the lights of a 350z.... any other cues?

----EDIT----
Isn't it quite comparable to the ZO6? i mean...roughly the same 0-60 times...similar top speeds... and would it be safe to hope for a robustly built engine that could use a few relatively easy mods to reach some extra power? It's not just that way with older cars like the supra or the r34 skylines and such...right?

You're all drunk... it makes that horsepower on stock boost... LOL..

That's a 600 + HP car on stock turbo's w/ minor mods and boost upped.... Seriously... That's like 700/750 HP on upgraded stock turbo's... Most likely on the stock block; with just fuel/BPU... technology is slowly raping us older supra worshippers....

no

Just like the ZO6, they don't build in much over engineering...

Any more boost and it will probably blow... Newer tech is overrated...

Please, this thing is a beast. Also, take for instance a zo6 vs a big block of the past with the same displacement. In all respects the zo6 engine supercedes those engines of the past by far. All you have to do is look at the numbers. Newer technology wins, hands down.

Also, I was reading about one 300zx who had 140k on his twin turbo engine, mind you this thing was a 9-10 second car and it ran 200 plus passes at the track before it blew. I would call that damn near unbreakable.

But do you know if the skyline is actually built strong enough to take more? are they going to launch the skyline into roadracing again? if not, why would they over-engineer it past the original production specs? I have this bad feeling that, like Poodles said, although it looks like a GREAT car, and has AMAZING potential...it's already been pushed pretty far. We won't know what it will handle until a pro tuner bolts on some crap and blows one up... How many people actually knew the 2jz engines would reliably handle twice their stock horsepower without tampering with the stock block setup? Maybe an adventurous toyota engineer...or the racing faction of toyota...

But anyway... I suppose if they didn't DOWNgrade the skyline's engineering and manufacture refinement to cut costs, it should perform the same or better than the older one... well, thats at least what SHOULD happen. who knows for sure, it is a new design that I wouldn't assume to be similar to the old I-6 design. the r34 had an I-6 right?

well then... it's not really that unbreakable now, is it?:sarcasm: :biglaugh: j/k...that is quite a lot of runs on a worn in engine, definitely something i think you could brag about.:icon_bigg
